How did I celebrate the 500th episode of my podcast? By taking a trip down memory lane with my one and only sister, Priscilla Shirer, of course!

On this special episode of The Sister Circle Podcast, I sat in the hot seat while Priscilla interviewed me. She’s my personal cheerleader, and even though the achiever in me wanted to move on to prepping for the next episode, our conversation encouraged me to slow down and reflect on my journey to 500 episodes.

As I think about my most memorable podcast guests, I can’t help but smile. Some guests moved me to tears, and others made me feel like I was chatting with a good girlfriend. In those moments, I truly was inspired just as much as you all watching and listening along.

I couldn’t always see what was happening in the various moments of podcasting over the years, but I now know that God has always been leading me to build something bigger than myself.

Brick by brick.

Podcast after podcast.

I didn’t start out with a specific goal in mind for how many podcasts I would record. I simply started with the hope that I could get more of my thoughts out in an audio format while also reaching more of my audience more consistently. When my friend (and THE friend of The Sister Circle Team) Chanda Stegall stayed up late with me to upload the first episode of the podcast 10 years ago, we had no idea how far it would go.

And so much life has happened throughout this time.

I’ve poured into the podcast as I homeschooled my children, supported my husband, served at my church, presented at events, and published books. Even as life was happening, I pursued my passion of encouraging women of faith through practical teaching and encouragement.

And if I were to meet you for a one-on-one conversation, I would lean in real close and tell you that you can do it too. You have everything within you to go after your dreams and do all the things.

I would also urge you to stop and smell the roses along the way.

Even as a natural planner and achiever, I’ve learned to do this. There is so much life to be lived and fun to be had while you’re doing what God has called you to do. And I’m not only talking about the fun that comes from jumping out of a plane or buying a new Bronco. I’m also talking about the simple pleasures of life, like spending time with my children and grandchildren and getting into a warm bed after a long day. Yes, that is fun too, I promise.

As for the future of the podcast, I’m just enjoying the ride. I’ll keep going until the Lord leads me to move in a different direction. For now, I look forward to taking breaks when I need to and pacing myself for the podcasts to come. More conversations that will encourage, equip, and challenge the community of faith.

And more practical life lessons sprinkled in from yours truly.

I’m so thankful for the women in my life who cheer me on when I’m tempted to check all the boxes without taking a moment to celebrate. My mom did that for me. Priscilla does that for me. And so do the other women in my sister circle.

But I’ve also been cheered on by you. Supporters of The Sister Circle and members of the Inner Circle. You all have witnessed my journey as an author, speaker, and podcaster and championed my efforts to show up as a real woman of faith.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.

Now, on to episode #501! 🙂
