Have you ever stopped to pay attention to the rhythm of your breathing? Just try it now. Take one deep breath in. Take one deep breath out. There is something about taking a moment to focus on our breathing that brings the important things back into focus.

One thing I know for sure is that the process of inhaling and exhaling goes beyond what happens physically in our bodies. When we slow down and let the Holy Spirit guide us, we can be intentional about the information we take in and the God ideas we put out into the world.

I’ve learned how to create an innovative mindset over the years. I never have a shortage of ideas. However, I have to be mindful of which ideas are actionable. In this episode, I break down my process for generating and implementing ideas. I pray these steps help you thrive in achieving your God-given goals.

Inhale – Open yourself up to learning new things. Read books. Get out and meet people. Explore different ways of doing things. Travel to exciting places. Before long, your creativity will begin to flow. As your mind begins to generate ideas, write them down. You don’t want to risk losing those great ideas.

If you’re a digital person, you can keep track of ideas on your phone. I believe in the power of putting pen to paper, so I keep my Moleskine notebook with me to jot down thoughts as they come. I even write down notes while I’m in the shower! (Aqua notes are amazing!) Innovation can spark at any time. Just be intentional about having somewhere to put the special ideas you have.

Exhale – Let the Holy Spirit guide you as you discern what ideas to share with the world. There’s nothing wrong with keeping some of your ideas to yourself. Think about how your ideas will benefit others and what will be required to bring them to fruition.

Remember the notes you wrote down during the inhale process? Now it’s time to write down your plans for those ideas. Structure your thoughts with systems that help you get organized. One of my favorite systems exists in The Full Circle 90-Day Planner. I use my planner to thoroughly detail and execute the vision that I’ve been given.

Rhythm – The pace at which you inhale and exhale is critical. Having a regular rhythm of processing and planning out your ideas gives you space to bring them to life. Some of your goals may require attention on a weekly basis, while you may need to work on other goals on a monthly or 90-day basis. Think about which ideas you can do consistently with the time and resources that you have.

Remember, in order to get something out, you have to put something in.

There are so many influences in the world. Surrounding yourself with positive inspiration is essential to the development of your ideas.

Your fresh ideas are just what the world needs. Breathe a little easier knowing that with God, a little creativity, and a little planning, your ideas can come to life.
