If God gave you what you’ve been praying for, would you have the capacity to steward it well?

I know it may be difficult to accept where you are now. Maybe you’ve been working towards more for a long time. But you will be so much better off if you make room for what is to come before you’re blessed with it.

Just think about it for a moment. Have you asked God to expand…

  • Your finances, only to mismanage the money you already have?
  • Your career, only to underperform in your current role?
  • Your relationships, only to take for granted the people right in front of you?

In this episode of the podcast, I share a strategy that has helped me to reframe my thoughts, appreciate what I have now, and move as if I already have what I’ve been praying for. I call it my KNOW framework, and I know it will help you too.

Knowledge – Sometimes you are limited by what you can see. Expand your vision by educating yourself through mentorship, books, podcasts like this one, and even good ol’ YouTube University.  Step into different rooms that expose you to more than what you can currently see.

No – It’s okay, and often necessary, to set limits with your time and your energy. Sit down and ask God for the wisdom to know what is worth your resources and what is not. List out all of your responsibilities and mark the things that you have the capacity to do, the things you need to say no to, and the things you can delegate to someone else.

Open Hands – When you believe that you have control over your situation, you’ll be left feeling defeated when things don’t work out in your timeline. Trust God with the timing of your life. Save yourself the stress and heartache of trying to figure it out on your own. Let go and let God.

Wisdom – It’s one thing to have knowledge; it’s another to know when to apply it. That’s wisdom. The final piece of this framework calls for you to communicate with the Father and to read His word so that you can grow in your response to others, grow in your faith, and grow in your ability to use what you already have in your hands.

Scripture to carry with you:

  • “And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28
  • “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”-Jeremiah 29:11
  • “And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.”-1 Timothy 1:14

If you’ve ever felt like an abundant life is only for everyone else, then it’s time to live like you truly KNOW that God can come through for you.

When you feel at your lowest, hold onto the promise that God can use it all for your good. That means every setback, every limitation, and every closed door. What you perceive to be a limitation can actually be a blessing in disguise. So open your eyes to more, say no when you need to, release the need to control, and move with wisdom. This is how you make space for overflow in your life.
