Life never stops moving. And as I find myself working to keep up with the pace of everything, it seems that once I’ve managed one season, another has taken its place.

Living my life one season at a time has become the lesson of a lifetime. You see, I can’t approach the way I parent adult children the same way I did when they were small. I can’t operate my business the same way I did when I was a team of one. And I can’t manage my time with God the same way I did when I was a little girl, after years of walking with Him.

There comes a time when we must take a moment to look around and notice what’s changed around us. If we don’t, then we are destined to live life stressed, striving for yesterday’s results in today’s circumstances.

But I’m here to encourage you that you can have peace that passes all understanding; you just have to pay attention to your life. You don’t want to miss what God has for you in this season while trying to keep up with the last one.

In this episode of the podcast, I break down my SEASON framework. It’s an opportunity to hit the pause button for a moment and truly assess what’s worth your valuable time and energy and what you must let go of.

Stop and pay attention – Sometimes, life gets so overwhelming that you don’t even realize the change that’s taken place. Take a moment to notice what’s true about your life right now.

Evaluate your capacity – Just because you could carry more in a previous season doesn’t mean you should in this season. Be open to the possibility that life could look different for you, and that’s okay.

Adjustment – It’s one thing to notice the changes in your life; it’s another to actually step back from what’s weighing you down. Implement the boundaries, let go of the weight, and reevaluate your commitments.

Simplify – Less truly is more. You don’t have to be everything to everyone. Focus on your priorities for this season and trust that the rest will take care of itself.

Obedience – When you honor God with your life, you’ll never go wrong. Lean into His Word and follow the next thing He told you to do, even if you can’t see the full picture yet.

Nurture – You were never meant to live in a constant state of exhaustion and burnout. Pour into yourself through time spent in God’s presence and with people who want to see you thrive.

Scripture reminds us that “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3)

As much as many of us try to ignore it, we live with limited capacity. We can’t live in overflow if we are always running on empty. And even if our hearts are in the right place, when we work so hard to meet every deadline, help every family member, and volunteer for every event, it only leads to frustration and resentment. And my friend, that’s simply no way to live.

Trust God with this season of your life. Ask Him to help you steward it well. And when you feel a shift in a new direction, be willing to make the proper adjustments to move toward an abundant life.
