Have you found yourself wondering how in the world you are supposed to juggle all of the things on your plate well? Maybe you’ve spent time writing out your to-do list, but inevitably it just gets longer and longer, and the days seem to get shorter.

In our conversation together, Crystal Paine has a lot to say about how to juggle all of the things we have to get done and overall time management from one season to another. Crystal is a master when it comes to sharing practical tips for living well. In this episode of the podcast, Crystal talks about accomplishing what’s on her to-do list, making room for things she enjoys, and recognizing how to make adjustments when it’s time to move from one season to the next.

The reality is we all have limits on our time and capacity.

We can aim to be our most productive selves day in and day out, but productivity isn’t always the answer. Burning the candle at both ends doesn’t make you more productive; it makes you burn out. Crystal has learned to use time-blocking specific tasks as a tool to help her manage her time in a healthy way. If you need a tool, start with hers! If you have your own system, continue to use it to manage your energy levels. Whether it’s remembering to set an appointment, or focusing on a project at work, having and using a solid personal system will help you prioritize your tasks.

The questions we ask ourselves matter. Maybe instead of asking yourself, “what all can I get done today?” you can instead pause and ask, “what do I choose to get done today, and how can I invite God into my tasks today too?” Because let’s be honest, although some people may be high-capacity people, we all have a maximum capacity threshold. That threshold can only be mitigated when we rest in the Lord and rely on His strength.

There will be seasons when God has called us to juggle a lot, and He will undoubtedly equip us for it. We also have a responsibility to make room for what He’s calling us to do in each season. We have to guard against doing what we’re doing just because we can.

Pay attention to the season of life you’re in. Know what to let down and set aside what worked last season when your current season demands something different. For example, in some seasons, you have time, and using your time saves you money. In other seasons,  you’re able to generate money and don’t quite have a lot of spare time. Sometimes the beauty of spending money is saving time and using your time to do more of what you enjoy.

Know your season.

Know who you are and what God requires of you in the here and now.

Know who you are, what you want, and what you love.

So much of what we can do to enjoy life isn’t about a 7-day vacation. It’s knowing how to use the cracks or crevices of time you can find to do something you love.

The beauty of this conversation around Crystal’s newest book is the overflow of lessons learned over time, and the wisdom shared on what it takes to juggle a beautiful life, enjoy that life and accomplish what matters most.
