Podcast: Play in new window
When I first started my podcast ten years ago, I had no idea where this journey would take me. Armed with a borrowed microphone and basic recording software like GarageBand and QuickTime Player on my Macbook, I embarked on a path to share my thoughts in four categories – faith, family and friends, food and fitness, and fun. Little did I know that this endeavor would not only change my life but also teach me invaluable lessons about personal growth and the evolution of oneself.
Embracing the Evolution of You
As I reflect on the past decade of showing up with a microphone, one of my most significant realizations is the importance of choosing to embrace change and allow myself to evolve. We are all staying the same and changing every day.
When I first started podcasting, my focus was on the four F categories. However, as time passed, I found myself drawn to a new category: focus. This encompassed topics such as finances, goal setting, mental health, professional development, and more.
Initially, I hesitated to explore these new areas. I didn’t want to alienate my audience or stray too far from my original path. However, as I learned to trust my instincts and embrace the evolution of my interests, I discovered that my listeners were eager to grow alongside me. And let me say that growing together was fun! By being open to the new directions God added to my life, I not only expanded my knowledge but also deepened my connection with my audience.
Running Your Own Race
Another crucial lesson I learned is the importance of running your own race. In a world where comparison is all too easy, it’s essential to focus on your own journey. There will always be others who seem to be running faster or achieving more, but true success lies in staying committed to your own race.
Throughout my podcasting journey, I’ve encountered numerous challenges and moments of self-doubt. There have been times when I questioned whether I was on the right path or if I should be doing things differently. However, I can clearly see now that these thoughts are usually mere distractions from my ultimate goal. By learning to shift or pivot when needed and stay focused on my own lane, I’ve discovered the beauty of building strength from the decision to persevere and continue growing.
The Power of Consistency and Faithfulness
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned over the past ten years is the power of consistency and faithfulness. When I first started podcasting, I had no idea how to market my show or launch a book. I simply showed up each week, sharing my thoughts and experiences with whoever would listen. As time passed, I honed my skills and expanded my knowledge in areas like marketing and product launches. But at the core of my success was a commitment to consistency.
Showing up week after week, month after month, and year after year, I’ve built a foundation of trust with my audience. By being faithful to my calling and consistently delivering value to my listeners, I’ve been able to build a loyal community that has supported me and all things for The Sister Circle team through every stage of my journey.
As I celebrate this incredible milestone, I want to encourage you to stay committed to your own race. Embrace your own evolution and be open to the new things God may be adding to your life. Don’t be discouraged by challenges or comparisons to others. Instead, focus on running your own race with consistency and faithfulness.
Celebrating Milestones and Looking Ahead
Looking back is not the only part of major milestones. Looking forward is too. Celebrating any accomplishment gives us the opportunity to acknowledge our achievements and also creates an opportunity to set our sights on the future.
Whether you’re just starting out on your personal growth journey, in your marriage, embarking upon your education, or moving forward in your career, remember that even in running a race, every step counts. Embrace the evolution of yourself, stay focused on your own lane, and remain consistent and faithful in your pursuits. As you do, you’ll find yourself celebrating milestones of your own, marveling at the growth you’ve achieved, and excited for what’s to come.
