When was the last time you felt FOMO (the fear of missing out)? What if that fear is causing you to miss out on the joy of the season you’re in right now?

On the other side of all that you wish you could have is an appreciation for all that you have right now.

And, I’ve been there.

You may look at someone else’s life and wish that you were in their shoes. Sure, the grass may always seem greener from your side of the fence, but you don’t know what it costs someone to have the life they have! That’s where JOMO (the joy of missing out) comes in. JOMO will shift your mindset from one of lack to one of abundance.

I want to encourage you to take a step back and look at what is lovely in your life.

You may not have the bigger house you dream of, but you are able to take care of your current home with ease because it’s not more than you can handle. You may aspire to move up in your job, but you have a chance to improve your leadership skills right where you are now. And maybe you wish your children were older and more independent, but one day this season will be over, and you’ll wish you could enjoy this stage just a little bit longer.

There is joy to be found in the things you don’t have to worry about. In the middle of the things you DON’T DO, there are a few ways to still experience amazing joy in your life.

Find joy where you are

It’s so easy to hop on social media and feel like life is passing you by. Everyone’s posting the best moments from their lives, and comparison can creep in. Just know that someone out there wishes they had what you have. Fear is a tactic of the enemy to take you off of the path that God has for your life.

Adopt an abundance mindset

FOMO can cause you to operate from a place of lack. You may be tempted to take control of situations that God could work out for you if you’d only take your hands off of it! You have to know that if He opened a door for you before, He can provide for you again. If an opportunity is for you, it will come back at the right time.

Focus on the good

When you spend time focused on others, you will begin to diminish the greatness inside of you. I challenge you to sit with yourself and take note of everything going right in your life right now. Reflect on what God has blessed you with. Even if it feels like only a few things are going well, begin to think about those things every day. Put a spotlight on the good in your life. Fall in love with all that you are and all that you have.

I want you to remember that you have a choice. Regardless of the circumstances you find yourself in, you can choose to view your life through a lens of joy. Everything may not be perfect, but who you are and the life you have is enough.

Life is so precious. Count it all joy.
