Y’all, you know I love doing “all-the-things”! I’m a high capacity person, and often, high capacity people don’t know they have a limit until they find themselves running into a wall. Sometimes this is a literal situation (as I discovered while riding downhill on the Golden Gate bridge)  but most of the time we hit a wall with our emotions or our general capacity to keep going.

In this season, I have found myself hitting up a wall and having to face some tough questions. Am I supposed to keep going? Is what I’m doing what I’m actually called to do? Do I burn it all down?

Thankfully, I have wise friends around me and one of them, while graciously holding space for my questions, asked if burning it all down would be fulfilling God’s calling on my life. She invited me to explore my need to let go of some old ways of doing things to make room for the new levels God wants to take me to.

I love building and growing the things around me, but what I can tend to forget is that growth requires pruning. New seasons require that I cut and trim for new growth to come. For me this looks like getting clear in this season about what I am doing. Getting smarter with how I deliver content. It’s all up for grabs as I’m getting clearer and growing. And even though I want to burn it all down it’s caused me to get ruthlessly honest and ask what I need to be doing.

If I want to move towards maturity in my business, ministry, and home life, I have to create the structure to sustain the growth. I have to set roles, responsibilities, and expectations so the people around me are clear on what to do. It requires time, training, discipleship and mentoring. It requires investment, but the investment is well worth it.

If you don’t move onto the next stage you won’t fully realize what that next stage has to offer you. I have to take off my founder’s hat and put on my business leader hat. Take off my mother hat and put on my coaching hat.

I have to learn to let things go.

To be willing to stop being the one with all the answers.

I have to make room for the shift.

And so far, this year has been all about making room.

I want to pay attention to what is shimmering and the things that set my soul on fire. To everything there is a season, and letting go to make room for the new thing is GOOD! But it will require that I release some things that are currently in my hands. I will have to raise the canopy and trim the branches to allow for the new fruit to grow.

So what is shimmering in your life today? What needs trimming and where is God inviting you to a new level of growth?

I feel the tugging in my own soul and that God is taking me to a new level. I’m ready to let God do the work, will you join me in letting go as well?

Here’s to noticing the shimmer, letting go, and reaching new levels of growth!
