Have you ever looked at your bank account and wondered, Where did all my money go?

Sometimes the problem isn’t simply that you need to make more. Sometimes the money you already have leaks out through small purchases, convenience, poor planning, subscriptions, impulse decisions, helping other people, or expenses you’ve simply stopped paying attention to.

In this episode, I’m talking about what it looks like to keep more of what you earn.

The first step is simple, but it may not be comfortable: inspect the numbers. You cannot change what you refuse to see. When you know what’s coming in, what’s going out, what you owe, what you own, and where you repeatedly spend, you can begin making decisions based on truth instead of assumptions.

And this isn’t about shame.

Maybe you’ve made financial mistakes. Maybe life happened. Maybe you’ve experienced debt, divorce, medical expenses, family responsibilities, or simply years of habits you wish you could change. The goal isn’t to beat yourself up over what you’ve done. The goal is to be willing to see where you are so you can make a different decision moving forward.

Once you know where your money is going, you can begin identifying your money leaks. Those leaks may look like eating out because you didn’t plan meals, buying duplicates because you can’t find what you already own, paying extra because you waited until the last minute, accumulating subscriptions, or making small purchases that don’t seem significant until you add them together.

Then you need to learn how to interrupt the impulse.

The goal isn’t to never enjoy your money. The goal is to create enough space between the feeling and the purchase to decide whether spending that money actually supports the life you say you want. That might mean waiting 24 hours before making an unplanned purchase, removing stored credit cards from shopping sites, unsubscribing from promotional emails, deleting shopping apps, or deciding in advance how much you’re willing to give to family members.

Finally, your savings needs a purpose.

Saving can feel like deprivation when you’re simply watching money sit in an account. But what if that money represented breathing room? An emergency fund? A debt-free vacation? A home repair? The ability to help someone without hurting yourself? The freedom to make a decision without panic?

Give your savings a name.

Because saving isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to:

  • Identify your money leaks
  • Interrupt impulse spending
  • Set financial boundaries
  • Build better money habits

You don’t have to fix everything at once. Start by paying attention, interrupting one pattern, and giving the money you save somewhere intentional to go.
