I had such a rich conversation with my friend Valorie Burton about her new book, Rules of Resilience. If you don’t already know Valorie, she is a best-selling author, speaker, and coach who has been equipping people with tools for resilience for nearly 20 years.

We talked about what resilience really looks like—not just powering through or “never giving up,” but learning how to grow through what you go through. Valorie shared her personal story of walking through divorce, her years of research in positive psychology, and the lessons she’s learned about authenticity, community, and vision.

I especially loved her reminder that sometimes resilience means staying the course, and other times it means knowing when to pivot or quit. We also unpacked what it looks like to control what you can, let go of what you can’t, and live with more energy, peace, and hope.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re doing resilience “right,” or if you’ve felt tired of trying to hold it all together, this episode will give you both practical steps and a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself along the way.
