Podcast: Play in new window
We all know that it is important to have good friends around us, but have you ever thought about how you need to be a good friend to yourself too? Taking the time to get to know ourselves is truly an act of self care. It’s getting beyond what we think is self care, to deeply knowing what sets our souls on fire. In today’s episode I share about the importance of creating space in your life to listen to what your soul is saying and how when you are good to yourself, you can be your best self.
You see, the God of the universe knit you together in your mothers womb for a purpose! He put unique gifts and talents inside of you to discover that they would be shared with the world, but so often we can get lost in the expectations and responsibilities that have been placed upon us. The hustle of life keeps us from hearing what the soul within is trying to say. But when we quiet ourselves, our soul starts to speak. Can you hear it?
In whatever season you may find yourself, I want to encourage you to make room for an appointment with your soul. It doesn’t have to be long and you don’t have to know what to do once you are there, but give your soul the space to speak and then honor yourself by listening. What does the girl in you love to do? What sets her soul on fire? For me, that looks like taking the time to learn, to create, and to build exciting things whether that be community or processes. For you it could look like serving your community well, going on an adventure, creating memories. The options are limitless because we were created by a limitless God.
So what can you do today to start listening to the girl inside of you? Here’s to you knowing you, serving you, loving you, and offering the best of what your soul has into this world for other people to be blessed by it and for Father God to be pleased by it.
