Podcast: Play in new window
In this conversation, I sit down with Pastor Jerry Flowers Jr. to explore the powerful intersection of therapy, theology, healing, and personal transformation. As someone who deeply cares about the whole person—heart, soul, mind, and strength—this conversation stirred me. Jerry has a gift for making emotional health and spiritual maturity work together instead of apart.
We talk about how Therapy Thursday began—right in the middle of a counseling session, when Jerry realized trauma was so loud in people’s hearts that they couldn’t even hear biblical truth anymore.
That moment launched a ministry movement that now reaches millions. Jerry shares why healing isn’t simply “reading a scripture and moving on,” but requires practical steps, emotional honesty, and sometimes unlearning the cultural messages that formed us.
We talk about renewing the mind, not in a vague spiritual sense, but as an intentional process of noticing your thoughts, filtering automatic beliefs, and anchoring your mind in what is true and biblically aligned. Jerry explains why many people can’t move forward—because they’re still interpreting everything through trauma, offense, old wounds, cluttered thoughts, or inherited lies.
He also shares his own journey through betrayal in ministry—what hurt him, what healed him, and why he had to learn the difference between preaching and pastoring, between people-pleasing and people-managing.
We dig into community, why we need it, and why many people say they “can’t find it.” Jerry challenges our cultural tendency to call everything toxic and offers wisdom about discomfort vs. danger, growth vs. harm, and how God uses community to train, strengthen, and sharpen us.
This conversation is rich, practical, and deeply rooted in Scripture—and it might be the permission and clarity someone needs to finally begin the healing process.
