Podcast: Play in new window
Are you feeling stuck in your past traumas and pain?
We all have seasons of brokenness. It’s a natural part of life. And it is healthy to acknowledge and own how we feel. Yet, the key is remembering we do not have to sit in those seasons. We can allow ourselves to heal and grow from the hard experiences we face.
Some people are able to walk through brokenness and pain in their life then share encouragement with others for doing the same. In her latest book, Brave Enough to be Broken, Toni Collier teaches about walking through past trauma and pain in a way that allows us to experience the power of God’s healing. Toni Collier is the founder of Broken Crayons Still Color, an international women’s ministry that helps women gain hope as they process their brokenness. She is also an author, speaker, and the host of the Still Coloring podcast.
Join Toni and I today on The Sister Circle Podcast as she shares how we can begin the healing journey by:
- Letting God carry the weight of your doubts
- Taking a posture of humility daily
- Using your words to rewire your thoughts
- Inviting the unhealthy parts of you into your story
Many of us will try to manage pain and trauma ourselves. When we don’t like the unhealthy parts of us, it’s hard to believe God or anyone else will. And yet, those unhealthy spaces are part of who we are and are required if we want to live fully free. A key element of healing involves vulnerability in safe spaces. It can be hard, do it hard. The important thing is to make sure you do it so healing can happen.
We can live in true authenticity when we invite our broken spaces into the story of who we are and how we live. God does not call us to hide the parts of our lives that do not look pretty. That would be a shame. Instead, He desires us to bring them to the light and expose them so He can move in and make us whole.
Don’t hide who you are – embrace it.
Don’t deny what you feel – own it.
Don’t sit in the pain of your past – address it.
The best way to heal is to be brave enough to own your brokenness and humble enough to let God show you the way to healing. Because your healing is waiting at the door… you simply have to open it and let it in.
So what are you waiting for?
Open the door.

Chrystal, This was an excellent interview with Toni Collier! She is so real. I am buying ‘Brave Enough to Be Broken’. The part of the interview about inviting all aspects of the broken me into the healing process, not just the current me. The 12-year-old me needs still needs healing. Thank you!
