Are you overwhelmed by the amount of time it takes to complete housework? Or perhaps you’ve grown frustrated by failed attempts to keep your home organized and clutter- free? Maybe you’ve even read several books on home organization or watched what feels like hundreds of YouTube videos and yet, you still feel unsuccessful? How many times have you visited The Container Store thinking,” Today is the day that I’m going to organize these kids’ toys?”

Be encouraged my friend, You Are Not Alone!

The truth is, the seemingly endless demands of housework can be a challenge for the most efficient among us. Not all women enjoy “keeping house”, some of us are not good at it, and some of us actually hate it. That’s a hard thing to admit when you’ve been raised with the idea that you can and should do it all. And when we can’t or when we don’t feel like it, we believe that something is wrong with us!

Listen y’all, as a wife and mother of five, I know what it’s like to try to simultaneously manage your household, hold down a job, homeschool your kids, and yes, serve in the ministry. Combine that with the images many of us hold about how our homes should look and you may find that you spend so much time on housework that some other God-inspired goals and dreams are left to wilt on the vine.

In this episode, I’m chatting with Dana K. White, author, blogger, and self-confessed slob turned decluttering expert. Cleaning and organizing did not come naturally to Dana. As she moved into marriage and family life, managing her home became an overwhelming burden. She felt like she really had to get the “cleaning thing” under control before she could spend time doing other things that she loved. In this interview, Dana shares her story candidly and honestly. Through transparent discussion of her pains, frustrations, and failures, she also sheds light on how she pursued and found balance, joy, and a measure of peace.

This conversation is sure to make you laugh — it might even make you cry as you hear some of your own struggles in Dana’s story. It’s all good though, because both laughter and tears can be healing. When you’ve dried your tears, I need you to walk away knowing there is hope for you and every other woman struggling to manage her home. I pray that by God’s grace, you walk away from this episode with some practical insights on how to create household rhythms and routines that actually work for you and your family.
