Podcast: Play in new window
I had the best time sitting on the couch with my friend Rachel Awtrey. Rachel is a wife, mom, podcast host, and now the author of Love Your Life (Even When You Don’t Like It All the Time). We laughed about the early days of her podcasting journey, celebrated her book launch (including a Times Square billboard—yes, really!), and talked honestly about the tension of living a life that feels both messy and meaningful.
What I love about Rachel is how practical and real she is. She shared how she’s learning to create rhythms that fit her life, not fight against it. We talked about why play and creativity matter for grown-ups just as much as kids, and how hospitality is more about making people feel loved than making things look perfect. She also gave wisdom on building authentic community—even if it means going first with 30 seconds of bravery.
If you’ve ever felt stuck in the mundane or wondered how to find joy in the middle of hard seasons, this conversation will give you permission to nod to the hard things without bowing to them. My hope is that as you listen, you’ll be reminded that God has left breadcrumbs of joy in your life too—you just have to wake up and notice them.
