Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith is not only a medical doctor, an author, and a speaker, but she is also ridiculously smart, ridiculously resourceful, and she will give you some of the best counsel and wisdom you didn’t even know you needed.  She is no stranger to The Sister Circle Podcast.  She previously joined us on Episode 234 where we discussed the importance of rest.  But, this episode, we are going to talk about what it looks like to live your life well – to be set free and live with balance and harmony.

A self-proclaimed “Martha”, Dr. Saundra writes out of her own struggle.  As a doer that has her hands in many places and spaces, she loves to do her own research, while also understanding that delegating responsibilities is crucial to learning to have balance in your life.  While the things only you can do are 100% your responsibility, delegating allows you to move from a position of doing everything to a position of oversight.

In order to juggle responsibilities, Dr. Saundra offers tips by first focusing attention on the non-negotiables, then trusting or hiring others for the rest. How does she do this? She’s learned a few tips that will be helpful for us all!

  1. Start by making a list, setting the goal, and seeing it all laid out. It is so important to evaluate your normal tendences in order to create and live a life you love.
  2. Take time to think before you say yes to commitments and  ask yourself if you are saying yes out of a place of guilt, shame, or fear. Girl, sometimes you need to allow your head and heart  time to catch up with your mouth.
  3. Learn to understand when a season of life is over or not. Staying in a season too long or moving out of a season too fast can disrupt your balance in life.  While some seasons may not bring joy in the moment, spending enough time in that season will allow you to learn the lessons and share the experiences.  That way, when God births you out of one season into the next, you don’t have any regrets.

Juggling responsibilities is only one of the ways Dr. Saundra specifically lends her wisdom and expertise to us on this episode. We also talk about burnout, our systems of checks and balancing, and how to create the harmony and balance our souls desperately need.

If you are a woman who wants to know how to live free, balanced, and with a sense of harmony and peace, this episode of the podcast has your name written all over it. Be sure to listen for all of the practical “how-tos” embedded through our conversation.
