Podcast: Play in new window
Are you a multi-passionate person? Do you have lots of interests or a desire to develop your skills, abilities, or expertise? I totally get that, and so does my friend, Karen Harmon. Karen homeschools her kids, runs a business, serves in her local church, and desires to honor and glorify God. She is a high-capacity person who loves doing the most. Karen also recognizes that she can do nothing without the power of the Spirit and understanding the hope of her salvation.
My conversation with Karen provided an eye-opening and convicting conversation that helped me grow in my understanding of what it looks like to be me and live surrendered to the Lord. You can find joy in multiple passions, show up for your family and obey the Lord. You just have to start with obedience to God and let him direct all the other things. Karen has learned what it means to put Jesus first. Her decision to glorify God and honor Him with her gifts helps her prioritize commitments in other areas of her life.
We girls often have a lot of things going on that we have to do or that we want to do. Our many roles can keep us busy and make us feel overwhelmed. The key is always to put God first. When you seek the Lord in all that you do and are willing to surrender to His will, you will find that He will help you maximize your season of life.
It is possible to steward your family, finances, time, career, and passions well. It may require setting a few boundaries and giving even a few more “no’s,” but you can make decisions that will allow you to be in the will of God for your life.
We honor God by living a surrendered life. We also honor Him by pursuing our gifts and passions, and we need God’s direction and power to do that well! This podcast will encourage you to seek the Lord in whatever you do, trust Him to help you prioritize your path, and own that He made you a woman of multiple passions and expects you to maximize the gift of you in this world.
