Do you ever feel like you just need a plan for your life? Are you constantly mulling over what the future holds for you? Here’s what you need to know. Developing a personal vision for your life may be easier than you think! With a little intentionality and a bit of audacity to dream, you might just be on the cusp of living a life you love.

Ask yourself, what do I want to see happen in my life? What am I hoping to do? Dreaming doesn’t have to feel like wishful thinking. Yet, somehow, we convince ourselves that what we set our affections on is often far from our reach. Either we conclude that the dreams we hold will, at some juncture, fade into obscurity or that what we hope for falls outside of God’s best for our lives. I wonder how many of us, at the wake of a dream, have decided that vision casting was just not worth it.

Can I tell you something?

Don’t overthink it.

Without constraint or strategy, simply allow yourself to dream. What would happen if you didn’t concern yourself with every little detail or the resources you have on hand? That, my friend, is vision casting. It’s the act of using your imagination and wondering what might be possible without getting wrapped up in the minutiae. Vision casting is giving yourself permission to identify and then pursue the desires God has placed within you.

It’s also believing in you.

Vision casting involves believing that you can show up for your life like you’re supposed to be there.

Here’s how…

Decide to create a vision for not only the next year, but the next three to five years, and even your life beyond. Also, decide to pay attention to what’s in front of you right now. Begin right where you are. What do you notice that you hadn’t noticed before about what you want for your life and what God has made available to you? Despite not knowing the details of your future, look ahead and think about how you might take strides towards that end.

Think about your life in lanes. Vision casting gets easier when you break your life into areas of focus. What’s your vision for your health, finances, emotional well-being, career, family, relationships, and spiritual health? Consider how you want to see these areas in your life work for you. How have you been living beneath your best in each lane, and how can you create space to live out your dreams freely and fully?

Refuse to edit your dreams. How often do you talk yourself out of something because you convince yourself of the reasons why it can’t happen for you? Maybe you tell yourself you are not qualified, or you have to be at a certain place in your life before you can begin traveling the way you would like. Instead, decide to let yourself explore the possibility that your dreams are possible and that your life is entrusted to the God who makes all things possible.

Every day presents a new opportunity to live out your dreams. But doing so requires you to recognize what God has already put in your heart to do. You have the power to do, be, achieve, and experience anything as you delight yourself in Him. There is a life beyond what you imagine as possible.

Every dream begins with a vision.

And you, my friend, can start today.

As I always say, every day is day one!
