Podcast: Play in new window
How would you describe your current relationship with your spouse? Are you able to confidently say that you are happily married? My guest for this episode of the podcast makes it a point to say she is “happily married” to remind people that healthy marriages do still exist! Now that doesn’t mean her marriage hasn’t come without putting in the effort, but it does mean that having a healthy and happy marriage is possible.
Alice Sanders is a Communication Specialist who believes in love and marriage. As a Communication Professor, Speaker, & Author, Alice is passionate about encouraging couples to #StayConnected through providing couples counseling, resources and events.
Through her love for all things communication, she found her sweet spot in helping married couples learn to communicate better so they can fully experience the gift of marriage that God has given them. And one of the resources Alice uses to help couples in their communication? The Love Journal. Birthed from her own creativity and desire to foster deeper communication with her husband, The Love Journal “is a guided journal crafted to deepen intimacy within your marriage.” It’s full of fun prompts and activities designed to open up the pathways of communication with your spouse and foster friendship that is integral to a healthy and lasting marriage.
In this episode Alice and I chat about:
- The importance of connection
- Practical Steps for struggling couples
- Tips for Conflict Resolution
Are you looking for ways to keep growing with your spouse? Or maybe you’ve reached the edge and you aren’t sure how to get back to those “first date” jitters? Connection with your spouse is possible! God knew who you needed then, knows who you need now, and who you will need in the future. Your job in marriage is to keep finding the connection as those points ebb and flow.
Remember, you get to choose! Choose to communicate. Choose to share what gets you excited and the things that bring you pain. Choose to let your spouse know when they’ve done a great job or where expectations aren’t being met. Growth will come when you choose to stay connected.
