Are you feeling overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of life? Do you find it hard to connect with your inner being?

Believe it or not, these feelings are of no surprise to God. I truly believe if we can master the art of engaging with spiritual disciplines then we will learn how to live a more grounded life. We are only humans for a season. We are spirits for eternity. Thus our primary goal while here on earth should be figuring out how to love, nurture and embrace our spiritual beings.

Now I don’t profess to know it all. But here’s what I do know. Spiritual disciplines matter. Spiritual disciplines are the key to living a grounded life. And spiritual disciplines will help us learn how to have better relationships with ourselves, with each other, and with God. Watch or listen to The Sister Circle Podcast today as I dive into how practicing spiritual disciplines will influence our ability to:

  • Love our authentic selves
  • Get to know God intimately
  • Show love to others

Spiritual disciplines allow God the space to speak to you and allow you the space to connect with the spirit of God in you. It won’t matter what others say about you. It won’t matter how others treat you. It won’t matter that others question the God within you. The only thing that will matter is the experience you will have with the power of God attached to the truth He shares with you in the intimate moments you spend with Him. Your confidence in who you are and whose you are will grow.

You will be filled. You will be whole. You will be fully known. And from the overflow of the love of God you experience in you, you will find the desire and the ability to love those around you.

This is a call to make room for prayer, journaling, reading God’s word, being still and embracing silence, or whatever spiritual act you feel connected to personally. It is not a call to beat yourself up because you haven’t done all the things yet. Yes! I want to do better, and I want you to do better too. But I also want you to find peace in where you are right now.

Look at yourself and say confidently, Today I am the best I can be today. And then, be honest with yourself and say, Today, I get to work on who I want to be tomorrow.

You’re still breathing.

You’re still here.

He says you’re worthy.

So go make some room to connect with your Creator, and let today be day one of living a grounded life!
