Podcast: Play in new window
The last month has been hard.
While things are definitely looking up as far as my health is concerned, I’d be lying if I told you that things have been easy. One of the things that I have learned to be absolutely true is that there are many lessons in life to be learned along the way. You don’t have to take a class. You don’t have to read a book. You don’t have to be privy to a secret. If you are willing to look at your life, in good times or bad, you can learn solid life lessons and use them to your advantage later or you can get to your later and wish you’d learned the lesson when you had the chance.
So yes. I hope that my hospital days are behind me and I’m hopeful that my healing journey will continue. However, I’d be amiss if I passed this way and didn’t take stock of the lessons in my life worth learning along the way.
Today’s podcast is a bit raw as I recount my journey through these last few weeks and share what’s been happening in my head and my heart as a result. My prayer is that you would choose to learn lessons in life whether they be from your traveling your own journey or by tuning in a bit and learning from the journey I’ve been on.
In either case, here’s what I want for you and for me… learn the lesson. Let no season in life pass without grasping tightly to the lessons there are to learn by simply paying attention to your life “along the way”.
And if you can grasp a hold of a lesson by learning from me — that’s good too.

Your podcast is what I needed to hear today. The importance of expressing gratitude cannot be overstated. Sometimes one can take things for granted to the point where one feels entitled. In dealing with life’s various struggles, I have come to realize just how much control I have over my life and how much faith I should have in my life. This is an ongoing lesson.
I am so grateful for having listened to you today! I soaked in every word! My heart rejoices! May our blessed Father restore your health to the fullest!
As someone who is in the middle of a really hard season, this podcast is right on time!! Thank you for blessing us with your words of wisdom as there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. I will pray for your continued healing and that the Lord will continue to bless your ministry which is a blessing to so many. Thank you Chrystal!!
Oh my gosh, Chrystal I join the multitude in praying for your healing but the message that came from it as well. I was trying to write the ideas as fast as I could. I have been going thru a journey of solitude. My husband is deployed and a new empty nester. Even though I have the knowledge that it is temporary my emotions are telling me it feels love me forever. I know that God is teaching me to learn dependence on Him, satan is speaking words of unworthiness and anxiety. Your words spoke truth to my heart and mind. I may not be able to control my circumstances but I do have choices in those circumstances..
Also, worship music has always been as important to my world as breathing. I have never heard of Travis Green. Thank you for sharing. Truly got my feet jumping and my heart singing. Thank you for sharing your walk with us.
Thanks for your prayers. So glad you enjoyed Travis Greene!
Wow! Chrystal you are a voice of courage and I am grateful that I listened today. So, so many lessons in my life. The Lord has placed in you such strength and courage to pour in to others while enduring your own challenges. I praise God for your healing and restoration. You are touching so many lives for good. Battles are tough and casualties are almost certain, but God! I have learned and still practicing to stay focused on the One who is the source of all that is needed for life’s challenges. An active prayer life is a must. Lesson: Not allowing distractions in life to throw of my stride in this faith walk. Distractions have been a problem for me. Learning to hit the “reset” button when I find myself headed down the trail of doubt, fear, self-pity or any of the like. All things work together for good! I am learning to remember the word all means all in every circumstance. I have a passion for baking cakes. Rich Chocolate is a favorite. The best recipes of chocolate cake require a bittersweet or unsweetened cacao. Not so tasty alone, but blended with the other necessary ingredients makes for an amazing treat!
Keep doing what you do! I am praying for you and family. God is faithful!

Great illustration. I can totally relate to anything having to do with chocolate!
Chrystal, your testimony thus far has blessed me tremendously. I am a believer that all things do work together for good. However, It certainly doesn’t seem that way when you are going through the rough seasons., but the rough seasons are what molds and shapes us into the person God intends for us to be. Sometimes we have to go through it in order to get to it. Your reminder to find gratefulness in those seasons is liberating and chain breaking.
I am so grateful today that you are feeling much better. While you had me crying in sympathy last night when I first listened to this podcast, today you had me cackling as I watched your instastories. May the healing, revelations and outings with Priscilla continue!
Crying one day and laughing the next. That’s me! Thanks for your support Melanie!
First of all no pressure to put out part 2 but I am so thankful for part 1. It came right on time. A day where darkness threatened to take me to court in order to take my youngest away, I remained calm and the darkness fleed but I am tired yet hanging in there. I have dealt with alot of things out of my control so much that it became overwhelming and led to panic attacks and nervous breakdowns. I have definitely learned how to better guard my heart and mind while still being the big hearted, caring person that I am. BOUNDARIES, I needed them. Learned that living a life pleasing God rather than people is more fulfilling and alot less stressful. So funny my youngest boy told me I was the strongest mommy ever, but I feel so weak. It’s been hard to walk with so much stacked against me but I must continue to walk things out with God even in this darkness. I must rise up and walk even on days I would rather just lie down. Pray for me as well❤
Praying Candice 😉

I pray for your speedy recovery

Hello Chrystal I am praying for you. God is good and he is able.. Keep going because I have learned so much from you…❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the encouragement.
Chrystal, I will definitely keep you in my prayers. Thank you for sharing your hospital lessons!
Dear Chrystal, I’m always late to your podcast parties but so happy when I show up!! My mouth dropped open as I heard your story. First, because I know the seriousness of strep! I’m 51 but when i was a little girl my mom had strep throat. She was a busy mom and an elementary school music teacher and didnt stop to go to the doctor. The strep killed her one strong kidney and the othe r eventually gave out. By God’s grace I was able to donate one of my kidneys to a stranger so that my mom would have the opportunity to receive a kidney from another stranger. So I say all that to remind you to please please listen to the doctors and take care of yourself!! I was in a rut and your words pulled me out. I even passed on to other friends who were blessed as well. I’m praying for you lady!!
Yes strep is so serious! So glad you were able to help your mom!
I had no idea strep could lead to such serious complications. Now I know first hand and second hand from reading your comment. I am listening. Taking it slow and being very careful. Thank you for listening and for your prayers!
Yes ma’am ! Strep is no joke. My mom’s surgery was successful praise the Lord and so now she has THREE kidneys (they don’t remove the bad one) . But I have to remind myself that I only have ONE kidney now and that I should hydrate hydrate hydrate with water! I too have to watch my numbers now that I only have kidney. I just read your update on the fact that your numbers for your kidneys are moving slowly. I know it’s not what you wanted to hear but praise God the numbers are not moving in the other direction! Remember we are being “grateful” for EVERYTHING . A wise woman of God taught me that! :-).
Chrystal, you have been through a journey and 1/2. You’re a wise woman to allow God’s lessons to permeate in the process. I am much older than you but I learn from you every time I listen. Blessing and continued healing.
