In this episode, I sit down with my friend Megan Fate Marshman for a conversation that felt holy from the very first minute. Megan is one of those people whose words don’t just sound powerful — they’re lived, tested, and refined through both joy and deep loss.

We talk about what it looks like to slow down in a world that rewards speed, productivity, and self-reliance. Megan shares how returning to piano lessons taught her something unexpected: that having skill without understanding requires us to relearn how to go slow. That lesson became a metaphor for her spiritual life — and honestly, for mine too.

Megan opens up about her journey through grief after the sudden loss of her husband, and how that season revealed a deeper temptation many of us face: autonomy. Not just worrying, but doing life without God while believing we’re walking with Him. We explore the difference between trying harder and actually partnering with the Spirit — in prayer, leadership, parenting, and everyday faith.

We also talk candidly about anger, shame, pride, and the gift of community. Megan shares how learning to bring her full, honest self to God — including the parts she wanted to clean up first — changed the way she experiences intimacy with Him. This conversation is an invitation to stop performing, stop rushing, and start walking with the One who isn’t worried about a thing.
