Have you ever had a season of frustration or disappointment that you sat in for too long?

The truth is, we probably all have. We made the plans to yield the outcome we wanted, so when it didn’t go as expected, we were floored. Instead of bouncing back and moving on, we chose to sit in our frustration and pout…

And we stayed in that place for way longer than we should.

Oftentimes when this happens, we are not the ones to pull ourselves out. It’s the friend who listens and then tells us enough is enough. It’s the mentor who gives us a newfound sense of hope. Or it’s the spiritual mother that reminds us we have the strength of God inside of us to get through anything. We need the stories and encouragement of those who came before us to help build our own faith and impart in us the wisdom of their experiences.

And my guest on the podcast is passionate about making sure the next generation has the mentorship and guidance they need. CeCe Winans is a GRAMMY award-winning artist who has influenced a generation of gospel vocalists over her 40-year span of recording and performing. She lives her life as a sacrifice of praise. And in her latest book, Believe For It, CeCe discusses the importance of passing down faith and wisdom to the next generation.

Today, on The Sister Circle Podcast, CeCe and I discuss how:

  • God’s word works for every generation
  • Every woman has something to give
  • Wisdom helps you live life to the fullest

This conversation was so rich because CeCe (in only the way that CeCe can), graciously shares insights from her own life. We talk about what mentoring has looked like – what she has received and what she currently gives. CeCe also transparently shares how she has learned to live and find balance with the demands on her life, her tips for parenting well, and why she knew it was God’s plan for her to write a book in this season of her life.

There’s nothing special or unique about thriving in the purpose God has for you. You must simply choose to walk in His will, listen to His word, and obey His commands. And the mothers of the church have a responsibility to teach those coming behind them these principles!  It’s a commandment. We are called to teach the younger women and make disciples. This means sharing with them the lessons of faith and wisdom we’ve learned from life and the knowledge that other women have poured into us over the years.

Everyone has something to give and everyone has room to grow. No matter your age, there is someone you can be learning from and someone you can be pouring into. God did not intend for us to walk through life alone. We have a calling to give back, to serve one another, and to support those coming after us.

We girls need each other.

And when we decide to connect, gather, and grow, we come to know that we are truly better together.
