Podcast: Play in new window
What comes to mind when you hear the word “theology?” Is the accompanying feeling one of overwhelmed or excitement? Do you believe there is impact and importance in understanding theology for yourself? Do you question the relevance of theology in your life? Or are you simply asking the question… “what are we really dealing with here?”
Wherever you find yourself when it comes to knowing God, understanding the Bible, and discovering what it looks like lived out in your life, my dear friend Elizabeth Woodson has some great insight for you.
Elizabeth Woodson is a speaker and author who doesn’t just love Jesus but enjoys sharing the love of Jesus through teaching His Word. A deep well of knowledge is what I like to call her. Her heart for serving her community, discipleship, and speaking about issues of justice led her on a journey to helping others understand clearly and more fully the overarching story of the Bible.
On today’s episode, Elizabeth and I discuss the Bible and its connection to real life — unmet expectations, contentment, singleness and relationships, knowing about the Bible versus believing the Bible, and more.
Many tools exist for helping to establish deep roots of faith, but how do you determine the right tool for you? If you have ever wondered about where to begin in finding resources to help you know how the Bible addresses your specific needs, know that you are not alone.
Finding fulfillment in enjoying God can be difficult when life doesn’t look like you think it should by now or when things don’t make sense. Add to that the complexities of scripture, and it can be very discouraging to pursue a life of faith in God. In this conversation, Elizabeth shares her own journey of connecting her life to the Bible and her persistence in seeking to live what God has called and equipped her to do in the world. She also shares about her new Bible study, From Beginning to Forever: A Study Of The Grand Narrative Of Scripture, and how her pursuit of clarifying theology to be easily understood led her to writing it.
I want to encourage you to do the work of knowing the reality of the presence of God and how who you are is connected to the story of the Bible. You do not have to feel disconnected from the Word of God. There is hope in pursuing the Word of God and it’s significance for your life!
Still not sure God’s Word holds hope for you? Listen to find out.
