Podcast: Play in new window
Have you ever wondered what your calling and purpose are in life? While that can seem like a big question, the answer doesn’t have to be complicated. The dreams in your heart have been placed there by God! The reason I show up here week after week (which I love!) is because I believe this is where I am supposed to be! It all started with a goal I wrote down almost 30 years ago. Back in my 20s, I used Franklin Covey planners. A section for goal setting always came first in the yearly planning section. One of my goals years ago was to be a woman who was willing to stand before other women and teach them. I wanted to provide women with practical tips for living and share wisdom gained from my life experiences to help them live well. Here we are, decades later, and I have the absolute honor of teaching women every week!
It is so important to live life with intentionality, purpose, and focus. In this week’s Coffee with Chrystal episode, I reflect on the life of Sidney Poitier and pull from the lessons we can learn about how he lived his life. Sidney lived a life of intention, character, and dignity. He understood the significance of his life and the opportunity he had to steward great influence. While Poitier provides a great example of what intentional living can look like, you don’t have to be in the spotlight to have an impact. Wherever you are, you my friend, have influence.
God has given you the script; he has provided the lines and written the most magnificent storyline. I realize that the idea of showing up is simple, but it may not always be easy. It takes discipline and a decision to be consistent – to keep showing up when you don’t feel like it and to continue making the hard decisions as needed. However, the result of intentionality and consistency is the opportunity to live out your purpose. Living your life well means making a plan and identifying the steps to reach your goals. No one accidentally fulfills their purpose; it takes daily intentionality and planning to get to where you want to be. Without a plan, your goals are just a wish.
What dream has God placed in your heart? What sphere of influence has God given you? Show up today, my friend! This week’s podcast will help you to think about the bigger picture of your life and the daily decisions you must make in order to live life well. Lean into God and choose the way of intentionality. Be a person of character, dignity, of purpose. And as you consistently show up for your life, watch it unfold into a beautiful masterpiece.
