Podcast: Play in new window
Do you wish you were farther along in your journey, but feel like you lack the resources to get there? Well, I’m here to offer truth to the lie that you need more to do more. In fact, most of the time, God can do more with the little you have in your hands than you could ever imagine.
When the goals you have for your life feel so out of reach, that’s just the time to focus on what God is calling you to steward well with what you have.
If you’re anything like me, then you understand how hard it is to let go and let God. But every time I took a step back and let Him do his thing in my life, He’s always superseded whatever I had in mind. That’s just what He does. He specializes in doing “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Allow me to share with you a few things I’ve learned in planting the seeds before I could see the harvest.
Nothing Is Too Small For God
I can clearly remember when I began nurturing my gift for writing and my love for gathering women. I didn’t have much, only a few moments in between homeschooling my kids and taking care of the home to devote to getting out the messages on my heart. I didn’t have a huge space to bring women together, but I used what I had.
Maybe God is calling you to do something that seems so small on the surface, but will have a ripple effect in your life and the lives of those around you. This is your signal to write down the little things you feel a nudge to pursue so that you never forget where it all began.
Faithfulness Takes You Farther
The pressure to reach goals will lead you to believe that things will never work out. You may grow weary as you look around and see other people reaching greater heights. But if you can just stay faithful in showing up for your life, I promise you will get to where you’re supposed to be.
Don’t get discouraged with the pace of your life. Each deposit you make towards your goals will count, but you have to remain consistent. Keep track of your small daily wins in a tracker or a planner so that you can build momentum in the small steps rather than the dramatic leaps.
Surrender Is More Powerful Than Strategy
Marketing is a major part of my business. After all, having an effective strategy is key to connecting with my community in a genuine and visible way. But sometimes, as much as I try to plan and push through to a desired result, I have to face the fact that my efforts will only take me so far.
Forcing things to happen in our way and on our time will surely lead to disappointment. There comes a point where we have to release control and invite God to partner with us. That can feel scary, without a doubt, but eventually we learn that His plan for our lives is far better than anything we can try to make happen on our own.
So here’s your encouragement to see the abundance in what you already have. When you’re tired of striving for more and none of the right doors seem to be opening, this is a podcast episode you’ll want to come back to again and again.
