Podcast: Play in new window
Are there parts of your life that you try to keep hidden away? I’m sure most of us can think of something from our past that we would rather not revisit. Those painful moments can feel overwhelming and all-consuming at times.
Maybe you feel that God can not possibly use your broken pieces. I am here to tell you that is simply not true. Your pain, your grief, your insecurities; all of it can be redeemed for His glory.
I spent some time talking with Taylor Madu about what can happen when we allow all things to work together for our good. If you are struggling to make sense of how the pieces of your life fit together, then this episode is for you.
Taylor includes Jesus in every part of her life, even as she raises her three beautiful children. Her heart for serving others has led her to co-pastor her church, Social Dallas, with her husband Robert. Even while serving her church, she remains clear on prioritizing her first ministry, her family.
I was moved by Taylor’s determination to draw close to God after the loss of her firstborn son, Micah. When fear tried to creep in during her next pregnancy, she leaned into her faith even more.
Maybe you are currently in the middle of a season of loss. Take heart in knowing that you are not alone. My conversation with Taylor is a reminder that community is vital in our healing process. She started her “Social Girls” community to bring together women in the Dallas area so that “everyone has a seat at the table”.
While her life may appear picture perfect from the stage (and her Instagram account), she is transparent about the defining moments in her past and how she has been able to find strength along the way.
Through Taylor’s testimony, you will be inspired to:
- Take action against your fears
- Invite Jesus into every aspect of your life
- Maintain boundaries while serving others
When painful memories from the past come to mind, you can acknowledge them, but you do not have to stay there. You can speak the truth of God’s Word over your life until you believe it again. You can move on from doubt and surround yourself with people of faith.
Overcoming trauma, loss, and pain is no small thing. Faith and counseling may be required to help you realize a new vision for your life that acknowledges your past while gracing you for your future.
There is no part of your life that God can not redeem.
You may be tempted to run from your past, but when you accept all of your story, you can then embrace the hope of a better future. Your darkest moments can help someone else who needs to know that they too can make it on the other side of a miracle.
