Podcast: Play in new window
Lots, lots, LOTS to share with you today. I’m so excited!
Today’s the first day of my new podcast! If you have no idea how to listen – keep reading – I’ll tell you everything you need to know! You have been so great to join me on the journey here on the blog, I hope you jump right in do the same on the podcast!
Since I had so much fun when my friend, Kat Lee, interviewed me for her podcast (links below), I decided to start one of my own. After much procrastination and push back planning and preparation, I sat down with a simple headset and started yapping. Today’s post is my way to give you a heads up on what’s coming down the pike.
Grab your headphones, join me for a chat and keep reading to learn more!
Highlight from Today’s Episode:
The Four “Fs”
- Faith
- Family
- Food & Fitness
- Fun
Well. I guess there are technically five “fs”. The most important thing for you to remember is that it’s O.K. if you don’t have it all together. It’s perfectly O.K for you to feel like there are pieces of your head or heart that you can’t quite identify or find. You are human. Being human means you are flawed. Enough of the bad news? No problem. There is a way for you to get it all together and be completely whole.

The Simple Cook
Pinterest is driving me insane.
Seriously.
Between the food artistry “pinned” and available for anytime viewing and the large variety of food blogs at my disposal – I’m going nuts.
I believe in food.
I mean… I really do love food.
But there is something about having to get dinner on the table every night that takes my food level involvement to a point of saturation.
And that doesn’t include breakfast, lunch, and in-between snacks.
I know what some of you are thinking: meal planning is the answer to all my woes. I’ve done that too, and let me tell you, after awhile… even the planning can get monotonous.
Yes. I want to feed my family well.
Yes. I want to keep them showing up to the table in anticipation of what’s-for-dinner.
Yes. I want to give the people I love food to eat that’s good to them and good for them.
But can I just say what I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking? Mealtime can be an ongoing, overwhelming and inescapable responsibility.
So I’ve made a decision: I’m keeping it simple…

Special shout out to Chanda, Heather, Kat, Tsh, and Stephanie, for your indispensable input in getting the podcast up and running. I would so not have been able to hit publish by 5/5 without ya!
Wow! This is right on with my conversation with Lord just this past weekend. The fruit of the Evans’ family just never ceases to amaze me. As one of your spiritual sisters in Christ (yes, I’ve adopted myself spiritually into the family a loong time ago), I’m so looking forward to this podcast.
Thank you so much for this podcast!! I am working on defining the pieces of my life to decrease my stress and live life with more joy and hope. My prayers and tears (I don’t like crying too) have been about wanting to know what God’s plan is for me. Do I work full-time, do I stay at home with our daughter, do I continue to work part-time, etc. I am not sure where He wants me toput the focus of my attention and energy. I feel like everything has a band aid on it and nothing really gets my full attention which causes more stress and anxiety. After listening to the podcast, I felt like I could take a breath and relax and start over. I don’t have to get everything right today. So thank you for sharing your heart with me and many other women who read your blog! God Bless!!
That’s right. The answer doesn’t have to be clear today. Do what you can until you can clearly do something differently.
Hi Chrystal! I just want to say you knocked your first podcast out of the park. You did an awesome job 🙂 I have been following you since your kingdom woman series and I have learned so much about myself following your journey. THANK YOU FOR KEEPING IT REAL! You have such a cool personality.
Can’t wait for more
Jennifer
[…] I’ve made a decision. I’ve made a choice. I’m keeping it simple. At least for awhile… I’m taking the easy […]
Thank you for being authentic and keeping it real! Enjoyed the podcast. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks Donna!
Felt like you were hanging out in my living room. Loved it! Good job!!
Yea! Glad you felt that way. That’s the idea. Chrystal’s “Chronies” We hang out together.
Great job! Thanks for keeping it real. Jeremiah 29:11 is my life verse, as well. Looking forward to the next one.
This was great Chrystal! Keep these coming……..so inspiring!! It’s so great to know I’m not the only one struggling in finding the missing pieces. Sometimes satan makes you think your the only one with missing pieces and everyone else has their puzzles all complete so you’re a failure. We all strive to hit the mark………some days I do some days I don’t and that’s ok. Thanks for being real about this thing called life 🙂 Bring on Monday…………
I absolutely loved your podcast program. I needed to hear so much of what the Lord led you to share. Will continue to listen…watch & read. Struggling with some issues, but God is good. Thanks so much for being a Kingdom Woman.
May God richly bless you…
Blessings
Linda J
Thanks ! What an amazing podcast! Can’t wait till next week.
The furry big toe!!! I’m so relieved to know I’m not the only woman with em. My daughters blast me all of the time about that. I enjoyed the podcast Chrystal….your transparency and authenticity is such a great motivator for me. Growing up with a father as a minister has always had me bound to think I HAD to be a certain way….but through your ministry and those at the church I realize I am more free to be me…..JACKED up and all!!!
May God Continue to bless you Richly! 🙂
Meeting you today for the first time through proverbs 31. Thanks for starting my day with laughter and inspiration. Love your realness! I’ll be back…..great job on your first podcast!
Yes yes yes! I am so excited that you are now doing podcasts. I do not have a lot of time to read, but have a 25 min commute to work so now I can listen to you on the drive!!! You won my heart at a dotmom conference last year and I am so thankful that you are willing to share your REAL life with others. So many women today compare themselves to an unrealistic definition of what womanhood should be. Thank you for trying to break that barrier down. Praise God and the work He is doing through you!
Loved this so much! In any conversation that I’ve been apart of where your name has been mentioned, the topic has always been about authentic people. Ive heard numerous ppl say, “She is just so real and transparent”. Ppl as well as myself, love how consistent you are on and off stage…..You’re just as authentic and transparent in your writings or at a conference speaking as you are during a one on one conversation after church has ended. You take the time to see people. Not just hear them….but you see them. You pause and you lean in and you don’t allow them to sit there by themselves bare and exposed, but you share too….And this podcast is no different. I was listening to it while doing my hair this morning and I felt like you were on the other end of the phone:) Enjoyed the practicality of it….very encouraging. Can’t wait to hear more!!!! Love you!
I looooooooved the podcast! I can not wait for the next one! 🙂
So glad Courtney! Can’t wait to meet you face to face one day soon!
Hey Chrystal,
Great job!!!! All we needed was a porch and two glasses of sweet tea! I love that you just keep it real. I too am a recovering OCD and I now realize that must be why God put me in a house full of men. I have two folders on my desktop one is called Family and the other is Food, Faith and Fitness. I often ask God how – how do I do it all and the answer is the same ~ I don’t have too. I just need to ask Him what is most important that day and then yield to His answer. I find when I do it His way , I walk in peace. However, sometimes I just do my own thing and mess it all up. Still learning – still pushing – still listening and learning to let go and look to HIM! Hugs from Mississippi!!!
Yup Zee… we don’t have too! Love that. Trying to get better about walking in that truth!
Chrystal, that would be awesome! I’m always at 7:50 service. The next time you are at the first service, let me know! I’m not opposed to meeting somewhere for Starbucks or French Fries! Hot and salty McDonald’s fries are my weakness!
Love the podcast, Chrystal. And the glimpse into your beautiful heart! Thanks for the reminder that I can choose to smile in the midst of the mess ’cause my Savior is standing beside me. Sending you a big hug from Michigan.
GREAT job! GREAT job! Just as you have been, just as you are… REAL.
Good morning. Long day at the office, so after I clocked out I was curious about your podcast’s beginnings as compared to today’s. And I do have questions on that same note.
1) I’m assuming you had the idea to present a musical theme for a backdrop. What brought about the choice to change it later?
2) I’ve been wrong before, but I’ m also assuming [Christian] men generally don’t do or participate in this sort of media experience and certainly not with these intentions of exhibiting personal authenticity without impersonal subject as a focal point. Do you know of any such publications that maybe I’m missing, so as to compare notes with them?
In any event, you are certainly not alone in your pursuit. I was actually against the whole idea of starting one myself, and that only for Bible study. For some reason that still doesn’t make sense to me, that changes when I heard a few of these podcasts you’re carrying. OK i’m wiped, ‘gotta go, but The Lord settle your circumstances and meet your house where you are and surprise You with His goodness…
