Today there is a movie that is coming out in theaters everywhere.
But it’s not just any movie.
Nor is it starring just any old actress.
The movie is a movie about prayer.
And the lead role is played by my sister Priscilla.
Speechless.
Speechless because this doesn’t happen everyday.
A movie about prayer.
My sister in a movie.
But the two of those non-normal things happening and converging on the same day has brought something to my attention. Do those two somewhat normal things happen and converge on the same day in real life?
Does prayer – a normal and familiar practice – converge often with my sister – a normal and familiar-to-me person?
Are my prayers well rounded?
Are they balanced?
Do I pray for the normal?
Am I quick to pray for myself and just a little slow to pray for others – especially those that are familiar to me and those that I see everyday and those whose lives seem to doing fine?
Or do I only pray in crisis?
Do I only pray for the person who is on death’s door or the person who needs a job or the person who is trying again this month once again to go for a positive pregnancy test?
Those things matter and they deserve prayer.
But do I remember to pray for more than my children or my niece who is in a movie but forget to pray for the neighborhood kids? Do I remember to pray for more than my co-worker friend on my job but also the person down the hall that just got promoted or the person downstairs who has been sitting at that desk for the last ten years?
Do I see that everyone, the movie star and the janitor on the movie set, could use my prayers?
Am I open and aware to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so that my heart beats in step with His for those who I see everyday and for whom I would pray?
Am I brave enough to pray for them?
Am I brave enough to tell them that I am praying for them and even bolder to pray with them?
Am I bold?
Do I recognize that Satan is bold as he comes to kill, steal, and destroy and that he works non-stop to disable, discourage, and defeat believers every minute of every day?
Do I realize that if he has a bold strategy to overpower me that I should use my fervent prayers as a bold, strategic weapon to overcome and have the victory available through Christ Jesus?
Am I on guard by reading God’s Word and seeking out His will and His words to pray back to Him.
Am I dressed in the Amor of God that protects me from the fiery darts of the enemy and am I willing to pick up the sword of the Word of God and use it to wield clarity and cutting truth in my life and the life of others?
And then do I pray based on His revealed Word to His beloved.
Am I devoted to others in love?
Am I devoted to prayer?
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. Romans 12:10-12
Does the normal in my life – my family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, converge with what should also be normal in your prayer closet – my honest and open consistent communication with the God of the universe?
If my sister is starring in a movie, am I praying for her?
Sure.
But if my sister is sitting behind the wheel taking her kids to baseball practice, am I praying for her then?
If your husband is on life support, are you praying for him?
Sure.
But if your husband is underneath the car changing the oil, are you prayer for him then?
If the mother of your child’s best friend is going through a divorce, are you praying for her?
Sure.
But if the mother of your child’s best friend has gone shopping – yet again – because you see her in the latest fashions and notice the designer bag on her shoulder… and you maybe even feel a tinge of jealousy – do you pray for her then?
If your good friend is getting married, do you pray for her?
Maybe.
But after the wedding when the pain in your heart pulses louder as you see the newlyweds together and you remember that you still haven’t found the love and connection that you so desire – do you pray for her then? Do you pray for her marriage even as you beg God to give you one of your own?
Does the normal in your life converge with what should also be the normal?
Do I find my way to my knees when I’m burdened by the weight of a pain to heavy to bear standing up tall?
Or do I have a place, a war room, where I go regularly to meet with the Master because conversation with Him is a regular part of my day?
If I am facing a crisis of health, finances, relationship, or my own sanity, am I praying?
Probably.
But if my life is fairly routine and uneventful, if I my bills are paid and vacation plans are in the works, if my kids are healthy and I’m thinking clear, if my car runs well and my job is on auto-pilot, am I praying then?
Does the normal in my life converge with the normal of my lips?
Will I pray?
Will you?
Because there doesn’t have to be a special crisis of some kind to force you or me into our prayer closets and to motivate us go to war for our life and for the lives of others – even when life is normal.
Prayer is normal.
People are normal.
And those two normals should converge on a regular basis.
This is the discipline of prayer.
This is the power of a practice that can infuse your life and the lives of those in your circle of influence with access to God’s supernatural involvement in the everyday.
Faith and Friends Friday people.
Come on.
And it doesn’t matter if you do it for you or if you do it for others. It doesn’t matter if you do it for crisis or if you do it for the normal. It does’t matter if you do it for the familiar or if you do it for the strange.
Do it for you.
Do it for others.
Just do it.
Pray.
Today is the 26th day of the 28 day Instagram Challenge.
Not perfect. Not always on my knees. Not always longer than a five minute chat between friends.
But better. Much better.
I have been contemplating whether or not a commitment to pray each and every day has made a difference.
It does.
It has.
So today let’s pray…
Let’s pray for ourselves and for one another.
Feel free to pray about ANYTHING…
A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G
But if you need a topic to guide your focus of prayer, think about this word.
Normal.
Think about these questions as you type up your prayer.
What is the “normal” in your life for which you might not think to pray?
Who do you engage with regularly that you rarely pray for?
Where is your “war room”? What “spot” can you use to regularly meet with God?
Again… feel free to pray about anything that concerns you. But if the topic of “normal” resonates with you, pray in that direction.
So how exactly does this work do you ask?
1) Post YOUR prayer.
First, scroll to the end of the post to find the section for comments. Keep scrolling to the end of the comments to find the empty box where you can leave your prayer request. Click “Post Comment”.
2) Pray for someone else.
Then, look above you in the comment thread for the person who posted just before of you. Hit “reply” and pray for them. That way we make sure that everyone gets covered!
Please don’t feel insecure about your ability to pray for another sister or feel that her request is above your spiritual “pay grade.” Just pray with your heart. God hears. He works with the words that we have and then He takes care of the rest.
3) Post your pic!
Make sure we can “see” you! Go to Gravatar.com so that others can see your face in the comments! (It’s easy! Just click on the green button labeled “Get your gravatar today” )
4) Pray more
Once you have left your prayer request and prayed for the person above you, if you have a few minutes feel free to reply and pray for any other comment/prayer you see in the thread.
OK friend… here we go.
Let’s pray.
Oh! And if you need a little more guidance or encouragement in the area of prayer, check out my sister’s new book on prayer, Fervent.

Father I come before in the precious name of your son, my Savior, Jesus Christ and I present myself before you. I lay every care and every burdensome thought that is not of you down at the Cross. I ask that you cleanse my heart and mind of all that is not of you. Forgive me of my sins and wash me with your blood. I receive your forgiveness and I thank you. I pray for my son to develop a deeper revelation of who you are and let him know how much you love him. As he is away at his first year in college I ask that he continue to seek you first, that he would not be ashamed of the gospel. That he would stand up for Your righteousness, purity, holiness, reverence, and compassion. That your word that he has hidden in his heart rise up within him at all times. I pray that you would continue to develop his character to be more and more like your Father! I leave him at the foot of the cross in Jesus name! Father I lift up Ms. Chrystal and I pray for a continued outpouring of your divine revelation over her. I pray that she would continue to be your mouth piece that she would touch and it would be your touch, that wherever her feet tread would be holy ground! Please cover her marriage and make that three strand cord tighter everyday. That her children would continue to receive from You through her. I thank you that you have ordered her steps and pray that she will ALWAYS walk in YOUR truth! In Jesus name Amen!
Father I come before and present my sister in Christ, Julie. I come into agreement with your will Father that her son will open his heart to you first then to his parents. I pray that he would reach a place where he wrestles with You Father and receives his blessing Lord. I ask that you place God fearing men and women filled with the Holy Spirit around that would give him a deeper revelation of who you are and who he belongs too. I pray the door of communication would be opened with his parents in Jesus name. Lord, I lift up Julie’s husband and ask that you heal his heart and that he know that what the enemy meant for evil, the Lord will turn around for His honor and glory!!! That no matter what Lord you are collecting every painful tear and every cry that he has shed before you. I pray for healing in this relationship and most of all that your will be done and that he continue to pray and wait on you Father. All this Father I ask in Jesus name Amen!

Father in Heaven, I ask that You help my sister Mikki, walk out the life you have planned for her. God give her direction, order, discipline, and wisdom in this walk. Teach her to hear Your voice, follow, and obey. Thank You, Father for every great place you will take her and every blessing You will pour on her. God anoint her for this journey, so that she may complete every assignment You have set before her. Thank you Father for answering this prayer in Jesus Name Amen.
I am struggling with the feeling of loneliness after the end of a relationship. I was convinced that he was “the one,” and that God brought him to me. But, it turned out that it was a very deceptive relationship. I’m hurt. I feel stupid. But, mostly, I feel alone. I want to find that man to share my life with and start a family.
Lord I pray for Elizabeth, God you know her heart and that this loneliness she feels is only for satan because he is the author of all lies. , God I asked that you show her she is never alone because you are always with her, As you did me teach her how to enjoy herself without others , because until we love us we are not ready for anyone else to love us, and we can still feel alone even with many people around, Give her an unspeakable peace, remind her she is wonderfully made as its says in your word, Lord you said in your word that you would give us the desires of our heart, so I know that you will fill Elizabeth desires for a family and someone to share her heart with, so I am so thankful and already rejoicing in what you are already doing for my dear Sister, I declare all these things in your son JESUS name Amen.
My thoughts & prayers are with you, Elizabeth. I pray you feel God’s abundant strength & know he has a plan for your life. I promise to pray for you!

Please help to be humble and meek keeping the peace as it says in your word Ephesians 4 :2-3.God you also blessed me with to wonderful sons, I want to always encourage them, and be mind of how I speak, not like a know it all mom, but one who hears their concerns and values their opinion. Watch over Azspen as he enters this new journey of his life, it’s hard for Lord that he is so far away in college, but what makes it easy is knowing you have angels watching over him. I pray that door are open for him give him favor with his perfessors, when things seem difficult send him a word or a helper, I want pray for his roommates Christopher, Daniel and Adam Lord let them all live in peace and if they don’t know you allow Azspen to introduce them to you. Christan is in Jr High thus year and with that Lord I know all kinds of things are happening, but I know what ever distraction come I know you can keep him focus, he has spoken that he wants all A’s this year and to succeed in football as well as band God I know through you all things are possible, keep him covered each day. Lord you know my heart and I could go on with how good you are and I know you are all knowing so I’m just going to ask as the word say you search the heart of man, so you know what’s in my family and friends hearts and you also know there needs so I asking that whatever there needs are, desire, pains, hurts, burdens etc fulfil and answer those, I declare all these things in your son JESUS name Amen.

Lord, I join Daphne as she intercedes on behalf of others. Give her eyes to see and ears to hear You. Strengthen her as she desires to represent You in the workplace and let her see our battle is not with flesh and blood but against spiritual darkness. Give her grace as she advances Your Kingdom and pushes back the kingdom of darkness. Amen
Father, thank You for calling us to You – that You call me Your dearly loved daughter. Thank You for the change taking place in our life now as my husband faces unemployment. Thank You for my friend choosing abstinence from alcohol to ease her pain – wrap Your arms around her, strengthen her to do battle against the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Thank You for working in another friend as we study Philippians – for how she’s seeing You in a new way. Guide and guard our church as we continue to heal from spiritual abuse – I ask that we run to You rather than away. Let me be a friend to each one that You place in my life. May I walk humbly before You, to do justly, and love mercy. We don’t know what’s in the future but our eyes are fixed on You, trusting You to do Your perfect work in us. Thank You for Your love! Amen
Father, in the name and f Jesus, I lift up every person who has left a request on this page and prayed for another person’s needs. Lord, I ask you to draw each of us closer to you, to feel your heartbeat and hear your stillvsmall voice leading and guiding us in the way you would have us walk. Help us Father to not step to the right or the left, but keep our feet from evil. Keep our eyes focused upward looking at the hills because our help comes from you. Continuevto create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. Help us Father to always know and remember that you bless us to be a blessing to all nations so that your glory will cover the earth and we will cry out in unison, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain… Father, meet the needs if your people, heal, provide, lead and guide us. Give us the words to pray for the unsaved people in our lives and in the nations who have not heard your gospel story of redemption. Father, give us heartsvand mindsvto be willing to laybdown our lives for your glory… For your glory Lord, let it be.. In Jesus name, Amen
I left a prayer for others, but will ask for prayer for salvation of family members not walking with Christ. One in particular is at a crossroad and I’m asking the Lird to have mercy on him and use the circumstances in his life to cause his desire to become one of faithvand trust in God, to cry out as Saul did, what must I do to be saved?
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for your goodness, grace, and mercy. Although I don’t understand why things happen as they do, I know you are a good God, one who ultimately takes care of his people. I trust that you will not leave or forsake TP and me. Joblessness is hard, and there are serious circumstances that I will face if I don’t find a job soon. Father, I trust you for that job to come soon. I’ll continue to trust you even if the job doesn’t come as soon I think it needs to come. People lose their homes and become homeless everyday. I am not special. I know this could happen to us. If I must go down this road, I trust that you will take care of TP and me. YOU WILL NOT FORSAKE US OR LEAVE US STRANDED! I KNOW IT! You have always taken care of us, and I thank you for it! Thank you Father for today. Thank you for your blessings today. I trust you for your blessings, protection, and provision for tomorrow.
In Jesus’ precious name, I pray. Amen!
Dear Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, I pray for Jennifer Jones’ family.
I know salvation, repentance, and relationship with you is a choice WE make. Although you love us, you give us choice. You don’t coerce us but can use our “crossroads” to help us see how much we need you in our lives and how much you want to be in our lives. We need only to submit and repent.
Father, please be patient with Jennifer’s family. Use their crossroads for their salvation and your glory, bringing them into the right relationship with you.
Thank you Father for your goodness, mercy, and grace.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen!
