What do you need to know to have freedom through grace?

If grace is not only a great gift, but also a gift that should help us walk in freedom, how do we access the freedom that grace provides?

Just because we have grace doesn’t mean that we’re using it. Walking according to the grace that God has given us means that we have to participate with the gift He offers.  There are rules of engagement.

When my kids sit down to play a game of UNO, they like to make up rules as they go along.  Draw one card if you don’t have one to play or draw a bunch of cards until you find one.  There is nothing worse than two kids sitting down to play a game and they don’t agree on how it should be played.  When they are not on the same page, the game quickly erupts in frustration and arguments about whose way is the right way. The game simply doesn’t work unless both players are clear on the guidelines. Without guidelines, they aren’t free to enjoy the game.

Grace works the same way.  God loves us but He offers grace and then asks us to participate.

In Galatians 5:1, God reminds us of the freedom that He has given but tells us exactly what we have to do to gain access to that freedom.  We have to “stand firm.”

On today’s podcast, I talk about four rules of engagement that will help you enjoy the freedom that God has for you and walk fully in the grace that He provides.

My hope is that you will be challenged to move forward with a greater understanding of God’s grace, and grab hold of all that God’s grace can do in your life as a result of your participation with it.

You are free.  Now, you just have to act like what God says about you is true.

You can choose to live free.

Galatians 5:1 says, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”
