On today’s podcast, I talk with Carrie about decorating the home. She gives you a few ideas for how you might be able find decor that works for you! I’m convinced that decorating is not by gift but my conversation with Carrie reminded me that it doesn’t have to be!
Carrie gives tips on how to learn what you like. She shares how our personality and needs play a key role in our direction for decorating. Decorating should be intentional but it can also be fun!

Love your podcasts. You have a comforting voice (rare quality). Love the topics that I find so interesting, but I have difficulty sitting thru the first part of the podcasts waiting for the actual topic to be discussed. I tune in during my short breaks and usually am not able to get to the topic of discussion until the next go round. Wish you could shorten the introduction and dive in to the topic. ? I’m new to your podcasts, btw, and love how you are such a Godly woman and not afraid to step up and profess ur faith. You will have many jewels in ur crown.
Maybe I’ll say where the rambling stops so you can skip ahead? You listening on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play or on the blog.
take a picture of your couch and pillows
Will do. You on IG? If so, I’ll put it there 😉
This was a very helpful podcast today. Great tips on decorating and the Houzz website (didn’t know about that one). So eye opening when the reference was made to clutter being a stressor. I am a person that likes to have a place for everything and everything in its place. Things don’t always have to be as neat as a pin, but clutter and messiness definitely stress me.
Keep doing what you do!
Houzz is great! I’d heard of it but never actually looked. Great site for ideas!
Loved this and I always look forward to the introduction to let us know what you have been up to. Your sharing is a blessing. I look forward to Mondays to see what I can learn from you.
Thanks for listening!
Me too!
This podcast was great! I’m not naturally gifted w/ decorating, but I want to make my new house more homey, lol. Houzz has some good stuff – even though it’s annoying that they won’t allow us to directly put pics from there on Pinterest. The idea of choosing a few old photos to canvas was great – I’m doing that right now and getting rid of the rest! Thank you for this!

I finally had time to listen to this podcast tonight and home decor is one of my favorite things. In recent years, HomeGoods, Hobby Lobby and Stein-Mart are where I’ve found the most reasonably priced things I like as far as decorative accents. One of the best (and easy) principles I learned watching HGTV for making a room or space interesting is having a variety of textures and shapes. If I want to touch things in a room, I am interested, cozy and comfortable. Scale, symmetry and color combinations are important too. For instance, having a larger piece of furniture, artwork or architectural feature, like a fireplace, in a room serves as a focal point when you enter.
