Podcast: Play in new window
You’re in for a treat! On today’s podcast I chat with a very special guest; author, speaker and radio host Susie Larson. Susie shares with us insight from her book Alone in Marriage: Encouragement for When It’s All Up to You and her most recent book Your Sacred Yes. ‘
Why is it so challenging for us to find our purpose in God? Could it be that we have overextended our yes?
Think about the many commitments you juggle on daily basis. Who or what is driving your “yes”?
Imagine what our lives would look like if our commitments were focused responses to God’s call; if we responded according to God’s love rather than guilt and perceived obligations.
In this podcast Susie shares with us that a sacred yes leads to fruitfulness and is always accompanied by God’s provision. The yes God desires from you today may be finally letting go of built up bitterness and offering forgiveness, making time spent with Him a priority, implementing a plan for regular physical exercise or spiritual development, accepting a new opportunity, or simply enjoying a time of intentional rest.
You know what it is, or who is. Don’t push your yes away. It’s sacred. And not only will it bring renewal to your life but it will heightened your awareness of God’s unfailing love and provision for you.
Regardless of the season of life you are in, I pray that this episode both challenges and encourages you, leaving you longing to keep your yes sacred.
AND we have a copy of Your Sacred Yes from Susie to give away! Respond on how you were challenged while listening to this podcast or give a tip for keeping your Yes Sacred and I’ll randomly select one individual to give to book away. Comment before 11:59 Central Time on Wednesday. The winner will be notified on Thursday.

Wow!! Between this podcast and Fervent Friday, I am overwhelmed!!! I have been married almost 26 years, I am dealing with what Susie talked about. I have gone to Daddy and “told on my husband”, cried, and laid on my face. My heart has grown cold and this podcast just hit me square in the face!!! Thank you for sharing this. I needed to see myself, and I thank God for using you and Susie to show me where I have fallen short. Please pray for me. God bless.
My, my… such a great podcast!! Thank you Chrystal! Bless you Susie!
Well let me go to my prayer closet and ask for forgiveness. It’s so hard not be upset in marriage when your husband isn’t getting it! I sometimes find myself crying to God asking, “why doesn’t he get it, why doesn’t he get it!” I was reminded that I have to seek God and have a stronger relationship with him because we will fail each other in marriage.
I have to refocus! Love the advice in the Podcast. Thank you Lord.
Thank you for an amazing and on time podcast!
I have recently stopped running from my yes and have said yes to God as it relates to moving forward in ministry. I have seen in short order how He has opened doors and is orchestrating His plan as a result of my obedience. I would just encourage anyone to keep your yes sacred thru obedience. God will honor and bless that. He’s doing it for me and I know He will do the same for you.
Excellent podcast, Chrystal! I listened on my way in to work this morning, on my lunch hour, and on my way home today! Your interview with Susie Larson is a major blessing indeed!!! I cried when she talked about humbling herself by getting low to the ground to get her husband’s attention. Had never heard of her before, but I will be buying both books – this week!!! Thank you for sharing her with us!!! Bless you!!!
Thank you for this podcast. I needed to hear every word. As a recent follower of yours, whenever you pop up in social media, you always say something the Lord needs me to hear. Blessings to you and your family.
Thanks for sharing! My two year anniversary is tomorrow and I’m 9 months pregnant. This podcast was right on time because I was just thinking of how alone I feel at times… Even when I know my husband is acting in obedience to God. Sometimes I find myself crying out to God but then I remember before I got married God spoke to me and told me to trust Him.
Your podcast was a clear message to me from God and now I know I have to ask for forgiveness.
Thanks again for being such a huge blessing my life and family.
Happy Anniversary and Congratulations! What a wonderful blessing!
Lakisha, I hope you enjoyed your anniversary!

This was amazing!!! I needed this soooo much!! God bless you and Susie!!!
Hi Chrystal,
This podcast was excellent and timely!!
I need this book in my life.
I was intrigued by the different aspects of “Yes” and the two that challenged me were firstly, “The Shackled Yes” and the “Sloppy Yes’. Oh my.
I am beyond over living under the fear of man and saying yes to have people like, accept or understand me.
I was challenged when Susie mentioned that its an “utter waste of time” to try to “manage people’s ” thoughts toward me. I had NEVER thought of it in that manner before of trying to “manage” or really you could say “manipulate” how people view me. My greatest desire is to be free from man’s opinion and real before God. To live with a perspective and heart towards HIM and to see nobody else.
I love that she is totally free and that is my desire, so that I can truly love God and truly love people in their proper place in my life.
This podcast was an answer to prayer! I had been grappling with a decision- hearing about a sloppy yes, shackled yes, & sacred yes gave me wisdom to make my decision boldly!!! I actually had to stop cleaning my kitchen as I was listening and take a full page of legit notes on this podcast! Haha! Oh the wisdom that was overflowing!!! I have been re-reading these notes over and over! I WANT this book & would be delighted to win! Thank you for this podcast! So so much!
This was an awesome podcast definitely food for my soul. I can remember in my second year of marriage where I had grown a cold heart towards my husband b/c of him stepping out and starting a ministry and I was not on the same page with him. For 6 months I didn’t go to church anywhere, and God delivered me from the hurt and cold heart that I had towards my husband. We are at 9 yrs of marriage now and it couldn’t get any better. We still have our disagreements, but his choice to step out into ministry was a wise decision. I loved the quote from Susie on the, busyness that drains and the abundance that trains. I definitely want to get to the abundance that trains. And I loved the section about discipline not only in our spiritual growth, but our physical also. May God continue to bless you both!
I loved it! Susie spoke on it. I was like you, in the van saying “Yes” and “Amen.” If anything, her saying that what she juggled now compared to what she had years earlier was different in that her commitment to God and rest made it all possible. Though she has more on her plate now, she is steadfast in making sure she stays faithful to God, her husband and her rest. I wouldn’t have been as bold as the young woman that called her out but I surely would’ve thought “how can she stand to do so much so well?” But we just never know the sacrifice people make outside of our sight to accomplish what they do. Which is why I can’t compare my struggle to someone else’s because God works on all of us differently!
