Podcast: Play in new window
Could you use some practical tips for your prayer life?
I could too.
After finishing the 28 day challenge on Instagram, and going to see a fantastic movie about prayer a couple of times this weekend, and chatting about it on Instagram, I’ve received quite a few comments or questions about what prayer looks like in the practical everyday.
Today, I want to take some time to address one of the most frequently mentioned concerns about prayer.
“Prayer is hard because I don’t know that He is hearing Him and I’m not sure that I ever hear Him.”
“How do I hear His voice?”
“How do I know what He’s saying?”
Good questions.
I decided to badger ask a friend to join me on the podcast to talk about some of the answers.
Kandis is a young woman who has a vibrant relationship with the Lord. She is committed to her communication with the Lord and she regularly hears from Him.
How do I know this?
Because I’ve experienced the fruit of her prayers.
(Be sure and check out her prayer for YOU a little further down the page)
Kandis has reached out to me personally a few times and, out-of-the-blue, without knowing what was specifically going in my world, she followed a prompting of the Holy Spirit in her heart and shared something, with impeccable timing, that only God could have told her I needed to hear.
This has happened more than once.
And did I say that Kandis is young?
I think that is why I’m so excited to share this podcast.
I know that I have listeners and readers of all ages but I am happy to share a conversation with someone who can show my younger peeps that you don’t have to wait until you are more “seasoned” to have a “seasoned” relationship and prayer life with God.
Kandis and I chat for quite awhile (listen here and there as you have time) and we discuss TONS of tips for how you can have a vibrant, personal, and practical prayer life.
She even recorded this prayer just for you.

You’ve heard me say this before.
I’m not a theologian.
Not even close.
So when I have an opportunity to talk about the practical aspects of living out real-life, real-time faith, I go for it.
That’s what this podcast is all about.
Chopping it up with a friend and chatting about faith.
Join me as we talk about prayer and the practical ways to engage in communication with the God of the universe.
Awesome to think about that isn’t it?
I hope you take the time to listen to today’s show.

Thanks again. ‘Finally got a chance to hear it all the way through. I’m always elated when a youngster really “gets it” and didn’t have to get clobbered by the world first to get that testimony. ‘Must have been too hot to handle. No comments I see. Hopefully you found that quote, “Familiarity breeds contempt.” I’m a bit ambiguous about that statement. Any more I call it “complacency.” Very cool, an accomplished youngster for the Lord…and both the Lord and her are “with” each other…’makes traveling away from my family more bearable. Jesus be Kandis’s fence…
Just had an opportunity to finally listen in to your conversation with Kandis Davis. What an inspiration and encouragement. My #1 daughter will turn 30 in Feb ’16, so it’s refreshing to see someone of her generation so excited about her prayer life and relationship with the Jesus! I am encouraged and am looking forward to sharing with others as well as myself going deeper with my own prayer life. Just saw War Room and listening to this podcast just reinvigorated the take-aways from that film.
Chrystal keep doing what you do!

Such an encouraging post!! Just went out and bought a cork board to make my own prayer board! :). And I’m currently reading Priscilla’s book Discerning The Voice of God, awesome book! You ladies are helping strengthen my prayer life and helping me see that God has is talking to me, I just wasn’t sure that was Him! He’s probably rolling His eyes at me lol!
Thanks!!!
I used to struggle with knowing when God is speaking and how to hear Him. Hearing from God doesn’t just happen; it’s a conversation you cultivate by relating to Him regularly. Include Him in your day to day, ask Him even in the small things. And then wait, be patient. Some answers, acknowledgments, peace, come immediately like in the normal flow of conversation and then some come in due time and due season. I had to ask help from the Holy Spirit to include God in my day to day decisions and havr regular conversations as I would a friend. It’s weird at first but now it’s second nature and when you have that relationship you become more familiar with how He communicates with you and so you learn His “voice”. It has even given me peace in waiting for an answer b/c I know Ge communicated for me to wait. And even when He has yet to respond, I know He will answer because He has before and always will. My responsibility is to maintain fellowship and relationship: confess, repent, and forgive..
Hard to understand, until you experience it. And once you have it’s hard to explain 🙂
