Podcast: Play in new window
My current pair of skinny jeans are causing me a problem.
I don’t really want to talk about it because vulnerability is uncomfortable.
I don’t want to be disingenuous but I also don’t necessarily want to broadcast my current failure.
For goodness sake! I’m the girl who knows how to lose 9 pounds in 7 days and run a marathon and meet a running club at dark-thirty in the morning. And I’m also the girl who doesn’t get it right all of the time.
So today, I’m doing it – being honest about where I’m at.
Because we all need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
And while none of us enjoys pain, the avoidance of pain at any and all cost could very well get in the way of real progress.
It’s a wise person who recognizes that frustration is fantastic fuel for the engine of change and can literally provide a positive push away from the problem at hand.
So yeah.
I’m gonna get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Even if that means squeezing into my skinny jeans.

I love it (as usual)! Thanks for always being 100% real. Though I know it’s uncomfortable, it inspires people like me… Christians who truly desire to make the grade in all areas of life.
Blessings to you.
You are Awesome! I love how you give it to me straight. You are challenging and wise. Thank you for keeping it real. May the Father continue to bless you.
Thank you so much for the authenticity! I fell off the wagon too and trying to get back on. This was such a blessing to me and I’m sure others.
Thank you so much for this word. Having listened to it, I got my answer. You see I can loose 10kg jn winter and pick it all up in summer. Which left me puzzled. This summer pre menopause symptoms got thrown in the mix. I realised that summer is a looooooong season of celebrations. From the christmas holidays, to January’s birthday and February’s anniversary celebrations. Not forgetting strawberry picking from the farm, and grape stomping. Mango’s and watermelon galore on beach picnics, and before you know it weight has pilled back on.
Then its March and April, which is the easter , and we are big on pickled fish and hot cross buns , just like thanksgiving turkey. This explains my summer weight gain. Timeous podcast cause autumn has kicked in less celebrations, till september comes around. This time round I will know to handle my summer better. Menopause and its challenges is just another season I choose to embrace.
Thank you for being transparent. I’m going through a weight loss journey and this “exercise thing” for me has been a tough one. I agree with you that ignoring the problem will not make it go away. The way I fight back is just doing what I know to do and I definitely need to let go of comfort (laziness) and embrace the discomfort.
Thank you Crystal, I found your podcasts though the encouragement for today devotional from Proverbs 31 ministries, and I am glad I did. I know when The Lord is moving to get me to change an attitude or behavior, because I am always uncomfortable. The battle against my flesh is so difficult sometimes, but by God’s grace He will always send someone to encourage me.
Thank you for your encouragement, I will be praying for you to be consistent in your health goals. God bless
Hey Crystal,
I just love how real you are. I stumbled upon your blog from visiting the Proverbs31ministries’ site. Your blog has been a breath of fresh air for me. When I read your blogs it is almost like I am meeting your for a quick (like 5-10 mins) meeting over tea, a smoothy, or coffee and somehow in those few minutes you are able to pack a whole sermon in just a few words. I know for sure your blog was a God-send for me. As a 20-something year old black woman, your sister and now you are two spiritual mentors I look up to.
Thank you so much and may God’s favor continue to surround you!!!!
Chrystal, I will be honored to leave a review for you. R E A L. Now that’s also powerful. Folks can relate to real and perceive the power that provides them. Yes, ma’am. Be honored to leave a review for you. A fellow DFW area P31 girl.
Oh yea. your book is already on my bookshelf. I read it a year or so ago-after hearing your dad at the AWAKEN conference for James Robison’s 50th anniversary celebration. Thought you may like to know that too!
