I am preparing for my first marathon as well! I am running to help provide clean water for people in Africa!! I am excited to follow you along in your journey to running your marathon!!! Good luck! 🙂
I need to restart my fitness – my “real” fitness. I have run 4 half marathons and Jan 2013 I had planned to run more and reach half fanatic status. That was my goal, my carrot and was going to be a source of major bragging for me. However, one morning while wearing some very cute wedges, I fell, broke and dislocated my ankle. One plate, about 9 pins and screws, and some wire later, I am still not where I need to be. It’s been a year and half and even walking on my ankle causes a lot of swelling and major stiffness. I miss running!!!!!! I switched over to walking because even though I have swelling and stiffness, I do not have pain like I do when running. It is possible – I ran 5 miles not too long ago – but it is not pleasant. So, as I work with my doctor to figure out what is wrong and while I set a new “real” fitness goal, please keep running for me! I am living my running life through you, wishing I could join you. I appreciate today’s podcast. It has motivated me to find something else that I can do.
Billie, Glad you are encouraged to do something. Running is great but so are so many other ways of getting our heart rate up!
