Podcast: Play in new window
I promised you last week that I’d have a chat with a fitness friend of mine, but between her schedule and mine we couldn’t make it happen.
I’m happy to say that we got our act together this week!
Meet Bobbie… my “cute and fine” friend.
I love her.
She is spunky. She is fun. She is super encouraging.
And super positive about any person’s ability to change their life, one day at a time.
As we close out the month of July and, with it, our theme of celebration, I thought it appropriate to discuss how to celebrate YOU on the last day.
If you are anything like me, normally words describing my body and the word celebration don’t go together in the same sentence. But my fitness friend believes those words fit together quite nicely! In this episode, Bobbie challenges me and anyone who will listen to cease the habit of longing for the appendages of the woman in the magazines, and appreciating the beauty of our own.
Trust me. You will be encouraged by listening to this one.
Here’s the cruxt of the matter. You are a beautiful creation. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139). You are a diamond. You are already valuable. But like any diamond – no matter how expensive – it needs to be polished.
So it’s OK if you are not in the best shape.
So what if you can’t hold a plank for longer than 12 seconds.
Start from where you are.
Work with what you’ve got.
Do the best you can.
And do it as consistently as possible.
Ya’ll get ready.
This podcast is gonna bless your socks off.
My socks flew off and landed clear across the room.
Maybe you oughta go ahead and just take your socks off now.
Oh… and just in case you make incorrect assumptions…
Bobbie is normal.
Truly normal.
She’s not a vegan.
She’s not a fruitarian.
She works a desk job.
She hates running.
She eats meat.
She loves cheese.
So relax and don’t have any preconceived ideas about where this ball of fire is coming from.
Are you celebrating the body that you have?
I know I want to.
Bobbie does an credible job of telling us THAT we should celebrate the skin we are in and WHY we make that celebration a priority!
Listen in…
Then be sure and comment to let me know what you think.
And yes… I’ve got yet another theme song option for you to listen to. I promise this is coming to an end soon!

This was great! So encouraging. I have been slow to be consistent in working out. Even knowing the results and how much better my body feels after exercising. I will once again begin treating my body to reserved time for working out. Typically a treat would be Banana Fudge Walnut ice cream in a waffle cone. I’m choosing today to be more selective with treats for my body. 🙂 Just listening to your expression of how you felt when you put that french fry in your mouth, or just how one feels when we eat things that soothe us (comfort food). That’s an interesting way of referring to food that can be over done if not properly measured. Problem is once the pleasure is over, we’re wanting more which leads to excessive calories. Vicious cycle.
Vicious cycle! You’ve got that right! I’m beginning again too… once again. We can do it!
Great interview!
That was a really great podcast!!!! Love Mrs. Bobbie!! The message was really great and with such good information. Thank you for being such a blessing!!
Awesome! Thanks for encouraging us to love our own bodies…I always say I want arms like Angela Bassett – lol. I am encouraged to not worry about what the scale says and take my time. Focus on my positive (legs)
I’ve been trying to get on the scale “less”. I still care about that number. I know it’s not the only important measurement of health so I’m trying my best not to hyper focus on what the scale says.
Thanks for sharing another great podcast. I really need to increase my water intake. I love my body..especially my legs and height (5’9). My 7 day challenge includes no fried food and cake (I just ate a half bundtlet). So this is a huge challenge in polishing my diamond (temple). I work out daily but I need to watch what I eat afterwards.
French fries for me. Those little salty things call my name sometimes!!!
What a great podcast! Thanks for the encouragement to keep working out and eating healthier!
So…I hadn’t gotten a chance to listen to this podcast until today. I’m so behind, but I think this came at just the right time. Last Friday, after reading the first chapter in Dr. Tony Evans’ book “The Power of God’s Names” along with “Praying Through the Names of God.” I was thinking about how God is my Creator and I need to appreciate the way He created me. I may not like all the parts of my body, but I can appreciate the ME that GOD created. And in my blog post on August 22nd, I challenged myself to get prepared to celebrate the “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made Me” – I’m calling it #SeptemberThankfulChallenge It was like after I did the #7daychallenge to fight the #fatdemon I wanted to challenge myself to do something else…for even longer. So I am excited to get started on Monday, September 1st and “polish the diamond” inside of me by celebrating who God is creating me to be. I have divided the challenge up into three sections. The first 10 are physical things I am celebrating, the second section is 10 things about the “new” me — since becoming a Christian, the third 10 are test and trials that He has brought into my life.
Thank you for your encouraging blogs and podcast. I so appreciate your wisdom and personal experience and struggles — because we are not perfect 🙂
Feel free to stop by anytime throughout the month of September!
