Podcast: Play in new window
It’s the last Monday in July and we are closing out our theme of “Celebration”.
I introduced you to my friend Michelle last week when she came over to help me make Garden Vegetable Soup…
Join me this week for a fun (and sometimes silly) conversation with my long-time friend where we discuss her life as a single and satisfied woman who is choosing everyday to enjoy her journey.
When I think about a person who lives life fully, I think about Michelle.
She has chosen to make her life an adventure and I always am inspired to live outside the box after talking to her.
I think you will be too.
I have friends who are married who wish they were single.
I have friends who are single who wish they were married.
It seems as though so many people are on one side of the fence wishing that they were on the other!
It’s such a treat to know someone who loves the exact life that they have and chooses to take full advantage of living the adventure of their life.
Michelle is that person.
We can all learn a thing or two from someone who embraces the life that they have and is comfortable in their own skin.
Are you celebrating the life that you have?
I know I want to.
I hope that today’s podcast inspires you to do just that.
And yes… I’ve got yet another theme song option for you to listen to. Let me know what you think!
Join me for today’s chat by clicking “play” at the top of this post or via iTunes or Stitcher.

That was AWESOME!!! I am not single but I was encouraged by this. “Satisfied” is what stuck out for me. In whatever season you are in – single, married, separated or divorced – be satisfied. Enjoy the life that God has given you to the fullest. I loved it. Thank you so Chrystal and Michelle.
Precisely!
Hello, I’m so happy that you discussed this topic. I am single and while I have prayed for a spouse and children, I’m very satisfied with my life. Because of my “single” status, I’ve been able to relocate (3 times) for job advancement, travel, spoil myself, and serve in ministry/organizations freely. I say freely because when I make decisions to do something, I’m only responsible for myself and not someone else (e.g. husband and/or children).
I will admit that being “satisfied” didn’t come easily and I had to work at it. In fact sometimes I still do. The most important thing that I have learned about being single is learning about myself. Spending time with God has allowed me to know who I am and some things that I need to work on. Hey, everyone has a few idiosyncrasies 😉
For fun I really enjoy shopping, cooking, exercising/running traveling, & doing adventurous things like sky diving, jet skiing, zip-lining, indoor rock climbing, roller coasters, etc. I also enjoy helping others through volunteer opportunities.
I see you as a very satisfied single too Halicia. I think eventually we have the choice to learn about ourselves whether we are single or married. Either way, we have the potential of living our lives to the fullest!
Thank you for sharing a glimpse in Michelle’s life. I have to say for the most part I am satisfied with my singleness, however I do still pray for my #KingdomMan. I know God has the best for me and if that means being single than I would rather be that way than unsatisfied as a married person.
I am 44 years old, never been married, and because of that I have been able to step up and care for my mother who had a stroke this past January. My dad passed away 2 years ago, and during his last 6 months I was able to be with him and not worry about being away from my own family. I believe God is sovereign and He is in control. I just need to trust Him.
Michelle, thanks for your openness and example of a satisfied single!
Chrystal thanks for your fun and entertaining podcasts, and Instagram posts!
We all just need to trust Him! Thanks for your comments DeeJay!
I loved the pod cast and the frankness of your girlfriend! I also love that you don’t edit out anything, it makes your message personal for me.
Thanks Jenelle!
I loved this!!!! Michelle, thank you for giving us a glimpse into your life. You make single life sound AH-MAZING! 🙂 Thank you for letting us know that it’s okay to be single and to embrace being able to have the freedom to experience life. But most importantly, being married to the Lord and not searching for a mate to feel whole. And, I really need to hear that it’s okay to be in your 30s and don’t know what you really want to do. It’s okay to try different things. I have been putting soooooo much stress on myself to find “that” career, and find “that” mate. Thank you!
Side note: Chrystal, I think Michelle should make another guest apperance…. 🙂
I think so too Courtney!
It’s definitely encouraging because it is a huge challenge to be single around the majority of your friends that are in relationships. I love that she makes it a purpose to explore things just because… I mean did she have to work at it or did it come natural?
She did have to work at it but I know that Michelle has made it business to LIVE HER LIFE. She hasn’t left much time for thinking about her status.
I’m still crafting my response to this but just incase I don’t finish. My thought on the theme song choice…umm no. lol I encourage you to pull from your resources and have your brother create a little jingle or use one of his songs…what’s family for? ; )
LOL… Girl! My “resources” are BUSY! I’ll ask tho’ Thanks for your honesty. I love it!
I must admit I’ve listened to this multiple times and each time hearing something different all based on how I was feeling at the time. The first time, I was having a tantrum with God about my singleness and so, I rolled my eyes a couple of times as I listened to Shel talk how she was thriving in this area…her season! Why was she there and I’m here. I tried not to have an attitude but I was jealous! There! I said it…not just at her but others around me who seemed to have this secret step that I keep missing. Singe+_____= Satisfied! I love the Podcast but it was convicting and it turned a mirror on me and I didn’t like the reflection.
Fast Forward and I’m listening for a second time but the difference was peace. I hadn’t figured the equation and I’m still VERY single but something changed. I was in Atlanta for a girls weekend and on that Saturday, my friend Donielle, looked at me and said’ ” You don’t like to be alone. or just with yourself” I was like what? Actually, I felt like I’d been shot. Those words swirled around in my head for a over a week until I was like God, she’s right you know! Chris, I keep a busy schedule because I don’t like to not be doing anything. You know, bored! They say an idle mind is he devil workshop . Well, I’d add an idle life breeds ground for him to run havoc.
I know I can’t get married with this piece missing in my life. I want to rid myself of as much baggage as I can before I meet the person that God has for me.
I’ve been miserable and that could be the reason:I don’t like to be alone with Kesha! I treat others way better than I treat myself. I love on them unconditionally. I speak life and encouragement but when I go home I berate and belittle the very person that I should love the most…me! This podcast made me do some serious digging girl!
So, on Thursday I’m doing a #100daysofHappy. Everyday I’m going to be conscious of how I treat and love Kesha. All while logging it with pictures, notes to self and vlogs. That way I can look back and not forget. Finding a reason everyday to be happy with me and my life. This journey will lead up until my birthday on November 21,2014 and I’m actually going to celebrate in Dallas. I don’t have a friend or relative there but I feel like that’s where I want to end this journey. I may or may not be fully satisfied by the end of this but I want to be darn close!
Thank you again!!!
At first I wasn’t going to listen to this episode of the podcast…but GIRL…I am so glad I did. I thought-I’m not single-why should I listen? I gained so much wisdom from your discussion w/Michelle. I want her as my friend too!!
Chrystal- keep up the great work..I LOVE listening to you talk and I wish I lived in Texas so I could be your real life friend!!! Do you have any white girlfriends? ha!
That’s all right. :-)..
You know, I still wish I could’ve seen the look on my own face when someone told me some time ago, “The day will come when you’ll want what you have.” That was very new information to me back then. This was one of several confirmations I received of the Lord from both you and your friend Michelle. The other one I’ll share is on another rare extreme on this business of “wanting what you have.”
Your friend is very “connected.”
The first word I ever studied from the Word was “compassion.” I initially got upset ’cause its first mention in Matthew’s writings was actually a Greek phrase “moved with compassion.” At the time I wasn’t looking for a phrase. I was looking for a word. What intrigues me about Michelle’s testimony is she was looking for the phrase (not the word) when recognized she was assigned to field missions. And she found it. That’s why she started crying on the spot. Jesus’ passion found her long before she found it. It’s the same reasoning behind Jeremiah’s question to the LORD, “Why is my pain perpetual?” The earmark of ministry is feeling what God feels. Michelle is all over that. Very refreshing. And I really needed that when I heard it, ‘really put some things right for me. Thanks again.
