Podcast: Play in new window
Today’s my birthday.
And I’m sick.
Booooooooo…
No matter.
I’ve still recorded the podcast to share my birthday thoughts with you.
And sick or well, it’s my birthday and I’m going to celebrate doggone it!
But let’s just say that this time, I probably won’t be riding across the Golden Gate Bridge…
In today’s podcast, amidst sniffles and all, I share my reflections of what celebrating birthdays is all about.
Celebrations are what make life memorable. What we remember is what builds the value we feel that our lives have accumulated over time.
Want to have a life that you are happy with it? Celebrate.
Celebrations are the pegs on which we hang our memories of value.

Let’s Talk!
After you’ve listened to the podcast, I’d love to continue the conversation. Be sure and leave a comment or ask a question!
- What are your goals for the next 12 months.
- You are passing through this life once. What are three things you want to do before you leave this earth?
- What are your top three memories? Did you do anything to cement them in your memory? What made those memories “stick”?
- Are you a natural celebration kind-of-person? If not, why not? If so, what tips would you share with those of us struggle in this area?

Thank you for sharing today and preserving through your sickness. Happy Birthday!!! I really appreciate what you shared about remembering the things you’ve done. Everything I have done is not so great and I have regrets but I thank God for his grace and an opportunity to do better.
God’s grace is greater still!
Happy Birthday Chrystal!! Many blessings to you on this wonderful day. Thanks for sharing another podcast. Celebration is so natural for me. I normally have to encourage my friends to celebrate every moment. For those who struggle to celebrate, ask God to connect you with a cheerful person. In the next 12 months, hopefully I’ll be debt free. Before I leave this earth my three desires are #1 Marry #2 Give birth to a few babies #3 Evangelism-see many more souls born again. My top 3 memories- #1 Disney World #2 Scoring 16 points in Basketball game #3 Baptism @ 9yrs old. I have photos to remind me of these events. Sometime I talk about basketball with my highschool teammates to giggle about the old days. Looking forward to hearing another podcast.
You said, “ask God to connect you with a cheerful person”. Practical suggestion. Thanks for sharing!
Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you had a fabulous day! Thank you for sharing with us on your special day. You always give encouragement and challenge us to change our mindsets. As my birthday approaches, I’m changing my mindset. I am very resentful and full of regret that I’ll be 32 and life is soooo not like I planned! The things I can control, I’m going to change them. Like finishing my masters, or even changing careers! I always wanted to sky dive. I’m not sure I’m ready for that just yet… So maybe zip lining? Whatever it is, this is the year to start living life and not dwelling on the past. And what I can’t change, I’m praying God gives me patience to wait to see what special gifts He has in store for me. Have a blessed night! 🙂
Life is NEVER like we planned. Zip lining sounds fun. Do something. What’s on the list. (Holding you accountable to what you CAN control).
Ahhh, your podcasts are so refreshing. You truly have a gift of transparency and your honesty makes you so relatable as a sister in Christ.
My goals for the next 12 months are: publish my poetic memoir that I’m so excited about bc I know it will help others in their walk with Christ, get enrolled into college again, and build my savings up (without dipping too much, or at all).
Three things I want to do before I join with Christ: Passionately live out my purpose in Christ, get married & have a lasting marriage with God’s best for me, and experience motherhood/building my Kingdom family.
My top three memories: my hard-working single mother surprised my sister and I with a trip to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom when I was in the 7th or 8th grade, enduring 28 challenging days & facing my fears in Fort Knox, KY for my short lived ROTC career, and becoming a member of the best sorority in the land, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. (dream come true)…what made those top memories stick was remembering how genuinely happy I was!
I guess I can say I’m a natural celebratory type of person, however, I LOVE simplicity! So I like to keep it simple and exciting.
I hope you enjoy your birthday month to the fullest! Get well soon! God bless.
Glad you keep it simple. Many people (like me) don’t celebrate because we make the celebrations too complicated!
Happy Birthday!
I REALLY APPRECIATE your words of wisdom and encouragement. I LOVE your transparency, and how you share your experiences. Praying that you’ll feel better!
Thank you,
I am feeling better. Thanks!
Happy Belated Birthday Chrystal!
