I am a terrible decision maker.
T-e-r-r-i-b-l-e.
I am also a perfectionist.
The idea that I can make a choice now that I later realize is not the absolute best choice drives me insane.
And let me tell ya…
Perfectionism and decision-making don’t go well together.
I freeze up when it comes to making a decision about things I really don’t later want to regret.
While careful decision making is a good thing, careful decision making to the point of paralysis is not.
It’s a bad, bad thing.
So when my friend Kandis sent me the following message via email, out of the blue, without knowing that I had any particular problem, and it hit home so hard that I sat in front of my computer reading it and re-reading it through teary eyes and a racing heart, I knew God gave her this message for me.
And tonight I re-read her message to me and realized that it’s not just for me.
It’s for you too.
So I’m going to put Kandis’ message to me out there on the world wide web… not because I know your particular problem but because God does and He knows who needs to read this and for whom this message will hit home hard.
And if you have to read and re-read it over and over again, that’s ok.
You won’t be reading it by yourself.
I’m sure of it.
It’s tough to choose sometimes when there are 20 ways to do something and all 20 of those ways have 40 advantages each.
But there comes a point when we just have to choose.
Many of the choices we agonize over just aren’t worth the added stress. {Click to TWEET}
Just choose.
The beauty of lots of the choices we face and decisions we make?
They are not permanent.
Making the decision to “go” is just deciding to move.
It doesn’t mean you’re married to your choice or have to keep it that way forever.
The fullness of vision will come.
Just go.
The people you need to help you will come.
Just go.
The resources you need to make things happen will come.
Just go.
Pick a date. Pick a way. And go.
Name it later.
Change it later.
Figure out all the boring formalities later.
In the meantime…just go.
People are waiting and you have all that you need to start.
You know enough to go.
If you have to have the full vision to go, then there’s no need for faith.
Having the full picture would absolutely make for a boring, predictable God-less story. {Click to TWEET}
You know enough to go.
So just go.
And then God, like He loves to do, brought this Scripture to my mind because He’s an “add-a-cherry-on-top-kind-of-God”.
“Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.

Yesssss!!! Lord knows I needed to read this! I spend countless precious time agonizing over details and like you I too am a perfectionist. I often stay stuck in the same place. Thank you for posting this Crystal! I will make this one of my mottos for life “you know enough to go”.
Thank you for sharing, I needed this!
Yes….this was a great post. Many thanks for sharing this. #justGO
Decision making has always been my problem. This post is just for me. Thank you Chrystal!
“If you have to have the full vision, there’s no room for faith” – ouch; that really brought the negative side of perfectionism home. Thanks for sharing this.
The 1st step is the most difficult step! This was meant for me. This is my sign! I’ve been grabbing on to the shore for too long. I’m going to “just go”! I can change it later! Thanks Chrystal for allowing God speak through you to me.
My husband and I have come face to face with a decision of this nature within the last 8 weeks. Last night was the first step of “just going”. Even when everything doesn’t turn out how you think it should, the peace that comes in “just going” is indescribable!!! Thanks for sharing; this one hits me where I live.
You sent this at the perfect time. No, it was not a Glory Hallelujah moment but it was a “well, I’m not the only one” moment. I think I’m going to print this out and even share it. I’m not a perfectionist but I will think things to death, to a point of not even doing them. Thank you Chrystal! Thank you so much. Have a wonderfully blessed day!
Wow! I just accepted a new job last night and was wondering if I should really leave my current place of employment because I am comfortable here. Yet, when I saw “You have enough to go” and continued reading, I felt a strong confirmation from the Lord to just GO. I cannot let my fear of the unknown harass me and stress me out. Thank you for this…it’s a blessing indeed.
Thanks for sharing this mind-blowing, faith-affirming, get up and go word.
Thanks for sharing. Love it
EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you.
Chrystal, thanks so much for sharing. Yes this was for me, and many others. What’s great is that God knows why it’s for me. He speaks to us sometimes through the voice of others. This one speaks LOUD!
I’m listening. I’m moving. I’m trusting.
Thanks for sharing! This post is exactly what I needed. #JustGo
Chrystal
you are on point today. I tend to do the same thing. Thanks for the words. Just go. I am going around and around with myself on something now. Just go.
You are absolutely right! Sometimes I miss out on life and what the day has to offer because of my lack of decision-making. I need to be more relaxed and just go with the flo at times… Thanks for the blog
Loudly & clearly… I hear it. For me this very week!
Thankyou for your post! I don’t normally write or react to posts but this one hit home for me I had to. I find myself relating to this. My need for perfectionism has affected every area of my life that I find myself so stuck. Not making any progress and doing nothing. The fear of doing the wrong thing makes me do nothing. And this week I just crashed like I do lots of times. And don’t know exactly what to do. I mean I know I can turn to God but how to not find myself in this situation again is what I am trying to figure out.
Thanks so much for writing and sharing your thoughts. Move with the light that you have. As you move, he will give you more light. Small movements count too 🙂
Yes!! This was confirmation. I’m in the process of moving and don’t know if I should move on the other side of town or not. It’s not like it’s a different city. I am ready to GO!
Oh my word!!! I’ve been saying to the Lord .”I don’t need a sign or a symbol,Lord, I need a clear, plain word fromY. You!” This is indeed LOUD & CLEAR! Thank you Lord and thank you Chrystal! I’m about to exercise my faith!
Amen!! Such perfect timing. Thank you for sharing and your openness, and thank you to Kandis for her wisdom! Blessings as you step out and go. 🙂
I’m thinking you have read either my journal or my mind, but thank you anyway, Chrystal! And thank you, Kandis, too!!
Oh wow Chrystal. This post was definitely for me too. Indecisiveness and perfectionism is a dangerous combo…something I have been struggling with for years. Thank you for sharing! I am saving this to my favorites as a reminder.
This: “The people you need to help you will come.” Yep, that’s what I needed to hear today! Thank you, ma’am!
Chrystal, you are such a gift from God. This article was so helpful. I am a procrastinator and I tend to see the big picture and have trouble breaking things down into pieces which leads to much frustration. This article really helped.
Thank you for being there for us women.
Thank you for this timely message.
I will go wherever you lead, and I will continue to trust in you oh Lord who will supply my every need.
I may not have all the answers to every question I may face along the way,
But I am confident that you oh Lord will guide my steps each and everyday.

[…] “You Know Enough to Go” – the post born of out of an email that Kandis sent me after God prompted her heart to pray for me. […]
I am new to your blog. Thank you so much for this. Often times I will shy away from making a decision because I want to make sure I have all my basis covered and as much information as possible. I have missed opportunities because of this. So now I will step out on faith and just go! Thanks!
