My Personal Policies

My Personal Policies

Chrystal’s Chronicles Repost (7/18/13): I’m slowly but surely reposting blog entries from my “old blog”.  I ran across this one and thought that this would be a fun way for some of my new friends to get to know me.

My friend Rachel tagged me for a meme. She posted yesterday about her personal policies and she is right – she’s not the only one with personal rules she lives by. So here are my own:

  1. Never use the same face towel twice in a row. Dry and clean makes a good start.
  2. End every meal with something sweet. Even if it’s only a peppermint.
  3. Bare feet on a bare floor is gross…even if it’s just socks, covering is a must.
  4. Never sit on public toilets (this should be a given)
  5. No one else should wear my shoes…
  6. Things don’t have to spotless, piles are OK, as long as I know where stuff is…but DON’T TOUCH MY PILES!!!
  7. A person should never drink the last of anything in someone else’s fridge, especially mine.
  8. Don’t take anything out of my room, purse, car, etc. without asking. I’m a giving person but give me a chance to give it to you.
  9. Wet floors after a shower are yucky…so I’m always first into the shower 🙂
  10. I’m with Rachel…no sweaty men in bed 🙂
  11. I don’t kill bugs with my own shoes. I go get my husbands.
  12. When I fill up my gas tank, I have to end on a price that is divisible by 5 (like $45.65).
  13. I use the brain dump method for a “To Do List”. I have a Master Task List that has EVERYTHING on it that I need to remember by “ASAP”, “Week”, “Month”, “Quarter”, & “Year”. It just give me peace to know that everything is written down.
  14. No eating fried chicken in the bedroom. My Starbucks and Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers are OK though 🙂
  15. Eggs should crack evenly in half when I use them for cooking. If they don’t…I feel like I’m a failed cook.
  16. My pillow is my pillow….I don’t like using others…
  17. Always leave a message on voicemail…a beep followed by empty space is such a waste of time:)
  18. My seat at church is my seat at church!
  19. I refuse to wear makeup everyday (mostly church and special occasions). I had a friend that did and one day when she went without I asked her if she was sick. By following this policy, I can only look better not worse.
  20. I like my feet to be warm. If you are a good friend of mine, you’ll know b/c when we sit on the couch to talk, I reserve the right to stick my feet under your bottom. Bottoms do a good job of warming feet.

OK…I think I’ve done enough damage to my public reputation for one afternoon 🙂 If anyone else wants to play along, please do!

Now I KNOW, that I’m not the only weird and quirky person out there 🙂 So it’s your turn!  Leave a comment on this post sharing THREE of your own idiosyncratic personal policies in honor of “Three Things Thursday”.  Not only will I feel that we have bonded… but that comment will also get you entered to win a copy of Kingdom Woman, a book I co-authored with my dad that was released earlier this week. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post!

I’ll leave comments open until Saturday at midnight then choose a winner at random.

You seem to have an issue with feet as do I! Your rules seem very much the same as mine! my favorites are the church seat and NO BARE FEET. I would add 1) your feet can’t touch me at anytime!! 2) if I’m reading anything (even a food label) you can speak to me but it is useless. I will not hear you. My brain blocks any other noise out. “MOM, MOM, MOM, MOOOOOOMMMMM” is useless without a poke or a love tap to get my attention my dear teens. If I’m writing it may take fireworks 3) I have to be the last out of the house if we have to leave. So golly lagging around and casually taking your time may be the death of me. Love this post!

Hi Chrystal! I thought I was the only one with my little quirks! These are just three of my many crazies!

    1. I don’t like for my food to touch on my plate! If collard green juice touches my corn bread, I WILL NOT eat where the two have touch. However, salads and sandwiches are okay because those things are supposed to be mixed!

    2. I don’t like to refill the same glass to drink out of. I will wash it or get another one before refilling! If I’m using a straw, that’s okay, refills are welcomed!

    3. My husband thinks I’m absolutely nuts for this one, but if I’m laying in the bed or on the sofa I must have a blanket or under the sheets! It can be 300 degrees, but I will still be covered and saying I’m hot! I don’t fully understand that one either….. 🙂

By the way, I’m the only girl and the baby! Maybe that’s my excuse?!?

Our quirks make us unique! I loved reading yours. 1. I like my drinks in big mugs/cups. We call them glutton cups. 2..I have the opposite foot philosophy. If I can be barefoot, I will be barefoot. 3. I can not do makeup daily, either. I thought it would be nice to try, so my husband would always come home to a well-put tog. woman. I couldn’t do it for long, but that is okay. It wasn’t like he saw me wearing makeup much before we married.

Hi 🙂 I absolutely loved reading this! A lot of it made me LOL. I am glad I am not the only one with policies. 1. If I am setting an alarm or the coffee maker timer and it lands on 6:31 when I meant for it to be set for 6:30 I have to go back around and fix it. I can’t handle that one minute difference. 2. I hate a cold toilet seat in the winter. I will avoid it at all costs. Therefore I have been known to blow dry it before using it. ( can’t believe I am admitting that!) 3. Absolutely no one else can drink from my water bottle! Drinking from my cup is fine, but sharing a water bottle just grosses me out.

I absolutely loved this! A lot of it made me LOL as did the comment’s. I am glad I am not the only one with quirks! 1. If I am setting a digital clock or alarm and I accidently pass the time I intended for it to be set at, even by just a 1 minute difference; I have to start over and go back around. 2. I hate a cold toilet seat in the winter; I will avoid it at all costs. Therefore I have been known to blow dry the seat before using it. (I can’t believe I admitted that!) 3. No one but me can drink from my water bottle. Sharing my cup is fine, but sharing a water bottle grosses me out.

Great post! 1 – IF I have a stash of treats (chocolate), please do not get into it without asking. IF I do not want to share, I will help you find something else. IF you take some without asking, you will be required to replace it with my current craving ASAP! 2 – IF you wake the sleeping baby… just DO NOT wake the sleeping baby! 3 – got to agree with your #6 – it may seem like a disorganized mess, but it is mine, and I know what is in it!

Ok here goes… I have two teenage girls who are always borrowing things from my room: 1. If you borrow it put it back exactly where it was, how it was. 2. Never use my hands to open a public restroom door. Just Gross!! 3. My closet has to be color coordinated. I walk into my closet and have to decide my outfit based on what color I want to wear that day.

Quirks are what make us AWESOME! Here are mine:

1, No one in my house is allowed in my bed with their street clothes on…yuck!
    2. I like my sheets cold when I get in my bed, please don’t sit on my side because it might warm them up!
    3. I will not dry my hands off at your house with that nasty washcloth/handtowel that’s been hanging on the holder ever since you moved in!
    4. Plastic cups are for kids…I will only drink out of a glass WITH a straw!
    5. If a part of my body hits the shower wall, I have to re-wash my whole body again! LOL!

Thats enough for now! You already pretty much covered my other weirdo quirks…no need for repeats!

    1. If you take something off my dresser or out of the draw put it back exactly the way you found it.
    2. If I don’t ask for advice please don’t give me any.
    3. In a Glass is the only way to drink water
    4. Nobody is allowed to drink out of my glass or from my straw! ( I don’t care if I gave birth to you)
    5. I like my sheets crisp and cool on my bed.
    6. Always in search of the perfect pink lipstick (help)

    1. I hav 2b organized. Bulleton boards as soon as u enter the apartment AND in my living room hold everything from keys, coupons, flashlights & fly swatter to chewing gum, cough drops, hair brush, scissors, tape. In others words, if it’s hanging @ Al Greens (Wal Greens) it’s gonna in my home. Life’s 2short 2search 4stuff.
    2. There has 2b magnets & photos on the fridge. If I am “chillin like Bob Dylan” @ur place & ur makin us coffee, I must be looking @ur fridge door. That’s what we do Chrystal, we capture moments then proudly display them on the fridge door.
    3. I feel like a failure: if my rice sticks. Nothing says “accomplished” like great rice.
    4. I hate 2admit this but I mastered the “Macarena” when it was out. Big time 🙂

Alright, #1 I love to be bare foot. That’s probably why I look like I need a pedicure all the time. Tough on my feet. #2 Don’t move my piles. I know where everything is, but if you move my piles, I’m in trouble. #3 If you have to adjust the seat, radio, mirrors, etc. in my car to drive it, please put them back where you found them or at least as close as possible. I’m sure if you asked my husband, son, mom, sister, or best friend they would tell you a whole lot more of my “pet peeves”. I’m looking forward to reading your book. I hope I win a copy.

It is great to know that I’m not alone with my uniqueness…
    1. I will not allow lettuce on my veggie burger….I mean what is the point…pickles and cheese yes, lettuce is wasteful. 🙂
    2. When I was a kid I would not eat a piece of fruit unless my mom bite out of it first….”mom start my peach for me, it tastes sweeter after you bite it”.
    3. My philosophy of cooking…if I changed it from the orginal form that it came from the store, then I’ve cooked….placed the turkey and cheese slices on the wheat bread and cut it in half….I “cooked” the boy lunch.

Loved your radio session on Focus on the Family the other day! My three things are:
    1) I am the pickiest eater in the world and I will order a cheeseburger meal – plain with NO cheese. (Hey all the meals come with cheese nowadays so its not really my fault).
    2) I have to follow proper de-planing etiquette (even if I am late for a connection). Let everyone in the rows infront of me out first.
    3) I have a clean clothes basket and a dirty clothes basket. My family has learned to ask me first so they don’t grab from the wrong one. Hey at least they are clean!
    Have a great day!

    My three quirks are:
    1. My food has to be in separate bowls/containers when in a restaurant. I don’t like my food to touch each other either.
    2. I have a glass of water in the fridge for me to drink through the night when I get up often to use the bathroom and then get another drink of water…..(out of my glass). LOL
3.I travel w/a blanket to cover up in the car. No matter what the temp outside; it’s always cold inside w/my husband. So…..I stay warm.
