I made these the other day and as usual shared them with my sister. She has finally decided that she wants to know how to make them herself (I LOVE YOU SILLA :)). So I’m posting this for her and putting it on my blog so that I can easily share it with others.

A man named Harold Garnes and his wife Francine were friends of our family. Harold was a medical doctor. He has since passed on and his wife has moved to Florida (I hope to find her one of these days) but this is the bran muffin recipe he used to make muffins and to share them with us. Each time I make these it reminds me of him. These muffins are tasty and great for keeping you “regular”.

3 C Kellogs All Bran
2 3/4 C milk
2 1/2 C whole wheat flour (freshly ground works fine; 2 cups of wheatberries is plenty)
1/2 C sugar
1 1/2 C raisins
1 1/2 C chopped apples (1 large apple – I love my Tupperware chopper for this)
2/3 C oil (I normally use vegetable)
1 tsp salt
8 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg
2 Tbs cinnamon
2 eggs

Mix bran & milk together. Let stand together in a bowl. Mix dry ingredients together. Add eggs to bran & milk mixture. Stir well and then mix wet & dry together. Bake @ 350 for 20 minutes. Makes 24 muffins. 3 points (Weight Watchers)
