If your life is anything like mine, mealtimes can be the most chaotic time of the day. If I haven’t thought about dinner by 5pm, my family will be lucky to get toast and a bowl of cereal for the evening meal. But this isn’t what I want for my mealtimes. I want to look forward to dinnertime, not feel drained by it. And when I have the right tools and prioritize a little prep, I’m usually pleasantly surprised by how simple it can be.

On today’s podcast, I chat with Allison Schaaf, the creator of Prep Dish–a subscription meal planning service that helps people plan nutritious, creative meals with no stress or hassle. We talk about what it’s like to run her own business, how planning ahead eliminates mealtime stress, and how focusing on the outcome of good food can make it easier to put in the work.

Allison’s business started simply from her love of cooking. She knew that she didn’t want to be a restaurant chef or a hospital dietician, but she did want to pursue her passion for cooking and have a personal touch on people’s lives. After taking several confident, courageous steps toward her dream, she launched her own business and is now helping families trade dinnertime chaos for delicious, nutrient-rich meals.

The Prep Dish subscription gives you a grocery list, recipes, and instructions for how to prep your food in just a few hours for the entire week. And voila! Not only does it help you get in the habit of prepping your food ahead of time, it gives you all the tools you need make it simple.

I’m all about this. Lord knows I would give anything to be as cool as a cucumber when meal time rolls around. For those of you who need practical how-to’s–this is it! Allison simply and knowledgeably explains 1) how to make a little prep time go a long way, 2) shares a few recipes and ingredients that have multiple uses, and 3) tells us her favorite things to have on hand in a pinch.
