Podcast: Play in new window
It’s a new year, and we’d all like to think that we will do things better this year and live our lives to the full — just like we did last year or despite how we did last year. As we jump into a new year, I’d love to offer you some practical encouragement for how you can accomplish living with intention and thoughtful purpose. It’s possible, you know.
We are tempted to think that things will be different if we find the secret. We look for the right planner. The right method. The right goal setting system. But guess what is the only consistent thing in your life from year to year?
You.
You follow you everywhere and this year is no different. So it stands to reason that if you want to see change in your life, that change must start with you! On today’s podcast, I talk about what it means to focus on making real changes and the simple yet profound tools you can use to ensure that you happen to your year instead of your year happening to you.
Listen, I’m not knocking planners, I have already bought my new pens and I’m geeking out on a planner with a new layout. But what I’ve learned is this: the only magic that happens at the beginning of the year is whatever we choose to do — not plan — but actually do differently than we’ve done before.

At work literally WAITING for your weekly podcast to be uploaded!! Such a blessing to me.. and I haven’t even listened to it yet. I’ve been listening to your old podcasts. Pray that your home, family and that your health is blessed and overflowing with God’s love in 2018!!
As a single mother of four children who has made many poor decisions throughout the course of my life, this is my year to break out of that cycle. Two things I’m focusing on are a new career and buying my first home. The first step towards my new career is that I’m taking a free class at Goodwill for a position at the Department of Social Services. For now, my focus is on that. I have been taking steps towards home ownership through Habitat for Humanity for the past year. My house should be built by this Spring. Many exciting things are coming this year for my family! Thank you for your podcasts. I have your book Kingdom Woman and although I’m a rookie at this lifestyle, your talks have helped me. God bless you and your ministry!
I’m a single mom of four as well Jennifer and your comment caught my eye. I will be praying for you. God bless❤
Thank you Candice! I will do the same for you. Hoping for the best for you and your family this year!
That is fantastic Jennifer!! Praying all goes to plan with your new house and the Lord answers your prayers this year. God bless your journey xx
Thank you for your encouraging words, Sinead! God bless you this year as well!
Thank you SO much! You said you want to spend more time with God and hear him. I want to share with you this: I never hear him. I am in a very rough season of life right now. I am trying to school and start my life over and I am struggling with being pulled in many directions and having too many to take care for. After listening to your podcast, I am Hopeful, inspired and believe God used you to speak to me right now. Your podcast confirms that I have to stay focused on just school right now and to quit putting it off and be successful with it. I took notes and replayed your words over and over. Some of your words are exactly what I have been learning in school as a Health/Life Coach. I feel him speaking to me. “Be committed to the process, but know that in the process, you can find success.” Thank you for using your gifts (I also just listened to your Pathway on Purpose). You tell us to share and help others with our gifts, and you have done just that. You are my inspiration! Blessings to you and your family!
Wow Lisa! God bless you. I pray you will be successful in your studies and that God will help you eliminate distraction and focus on the necessities at this time. Keep up the great work.
My year has started off a bit chaotic and it’s hard to focus when things are unclear. But I’ve been continuing to seek God 1st and follow His leading and focus my attention where He is directing me. So I’m focusing on my family which has experienced a really hard time these last few years. And despite the unknowns I am focusing this week on staying connected in prayer and potty training a 3 1/2 year old. More than anything I want to be a really good mom who inspires my children and others to choose Jesus. I really just want to do all that the LORD has set out for me to do. I want to leave a legacy of loving the LORD with all my heart, mind, and soul by striving daily to walk in obedience.
Love your podcasts Chrystal so practical and encouraging!!! My copy of She’s Still There just arrived today (YAYY). Two of my favourite women are named on the cover so it’s a good day lol. God bless you and your family and your plans and prayers for 2018 x
