What do you need to know if you simply aren’t growing in grace?

Let me just keep this real for a minute.

I need to lose weight.  Seems like I always do.  And it’s not for a lack of knowledge that it happens slowly, or doesn’t happen at all.  It’s not for a lack of talking about it either. It’s not even for a lack of community.  I’m always good for a challenge.

It boils down to this. 1) Letting go of what I want, 2) Living out right choices, and 3) Looking forward to the benefits that my loss of weight will bring (long-term health and less stress in the closet.)

It’s simple but it sure isn’t easy.

Many of us struggle with growing in grace, for the same reasons I struggle with weight loss.  It’s hard to deny what we want and to say no.  We might know what the right choices are but we just don’t make them. Laziness, carelessness are equal abusers of the gift of grace.  Or, we simply don’t work to intentionally keep the finish line in mind.

My hope as you listen to today’s podcast that you would go a little deeper with me in understanding how grace changes things.  Grace is more than something to know about, it’s something that can help you grow.

Listen here.  This is real talk.  Receiving grace is the easy part.  For goodness sake, salvation is a free gift. But growing in grace takes work.  While the hard part has been done for us because Jesus has made a way, we have to participate in the grace He offers in order to live the victorious Christian life.

On today’s podcast, I talk more about the choices we have to make to grow in grace and why it matters.  I’m personally challenged to stop settling for salvation or religion alone when God wants to actually change us, through relationship, day by day into the likeness of His son for our good and His glory.

Titus 2:11-14 says, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.”
