Podcast: Play in new window
She’s Still There moments come in all shapes and sizes. Many of us have major and minor ones.
Today, Wynter Pitts shares a a little of both!
In this fun and honest episode, I talk with my cousin Wynter about a moment that she can laugh out loud about now. We also talk about her major She’s Still There moment–a season of life where she felt like life was too much, too overwhelming, too different from what she thought she wanted. Wynter talks about making the decision to trust God even when she didn’t feel like it, honoring herself and her creativity in motherhood, and how motherhood ended up being the path the Lord chose to refine and grow her passions and gifts.
Wynter is the wife of Jonathan and proud mom of FOUR girls! She is also the founder of For Girls Like You magazine, co-author of Hello Stars with her oldest daughter Alena, and co- author of her newest book, She is Yours, with her husband, which released only a few weeks ago.
Wynter never saw herself living the wife, mom, and minivan life. Her dream was to live, travel, and explore London as a carefree, independent woman. But God had other plans.
Sometimes God gives us what we think we don’t want. Often He allows things to happen that we didn’t plan for and we may feel as if we’re missing out on the life we wanted. But God has made it clear that He’s given us everything we need and more to live out the life that He has for us. He is writing a story that is better than one we could imagine for ourselves, and our part is simply choosing to trust Him with the next thing.

Thank you so much for you book – She’s Still There. I have not yet finished yet but I have found it quite a struggle. Not in a bad way but in a good way, if you want to call it that. So many things you have written have more than hit home with me. I am in a time in my life that I have never felt so low and depressed (and there have been many) and I feel stuck in my job, the way my life is right now, and it has been that way for more than 12 years. Not counting years prior. I have never felt so down and alone and full of dread, worry, anxiety, etc., (feelings that I cannot even put into words) that reading your book has really helped. I have had many episodes of tears when reading your book because I can relate in almost every single way.
I am very scared of the present and the future and feel a lot of guilt of the past and wish I could do so many things differently. There are so many days that I wish I could go back to being a little child with the awareness I have now and start all over again. What I wouldn’t give.
It is too bad, but I also wish that you and I had met and become friends. I know that may sound a little lame, and I am sure you have heard it from many others, but I know that having a friend like you in my life would have made a huge difference too.
Thank you again for your words and I will continue to read this book and re-read it too.
Bless you. 🙂
Very encouraging as a professor mommy of 2 under 2, a son (22 mo) and a daughter (5 mo). Amen to the fact that motherhood hasn’t looked like what I expected, but I have learned so much about the Father’s heart and unconditional love.
I was inspired also because my children have inspired me to write children’s books for children of color around the world to understand the beauty and diversity of people and cultures that God has created. (I’m Black and am happy to see Alena’s books!)
Keep the good stuff coming Chrystal! *blessings, blessings, blessings*
I love this! God just spoke to me last night about how much my discontent is really covetousness. When I was not married, I wanted a husband. When I was not a mommy, I wanted kids. When I had to go back to work, I wanted to stay home. Now, I’m married, 3 kids, homeschooling, and saying…God what am I supposed to “DO” with my life? The connection He made for me is that my looking around for something else is rooted in unbelief of His plan for my life. Thankful for His mercies and forgiveness.
Women from our church selected your book for our first book club choicr. We are off to a great start!
I have one question. I ordered the sudiobook. Is there a way to get a list of the questions at the end of each chapter?
I had to go back and listen in light of all that has transpired-
