Podcast: Play in new window
Twenty seven years ago, I met a girl named Michelle. We’ve been friends ever since and seen each other through too many seasons of life to count. Michelle is a nurse and chooses to travel in her career by picking up assignments every three to six months.
I’m so glad she’s a traveling nurse because it means that wherever she is I have somewhere to go. But for just a few days, she came back to Dallas in between assignments and we had a few hours to spend with each other. So, of course, I pulled out my podcast mic. Why not?
Today’s podcast is basically a cackle session between two long-time friends with a little travel talk sprinkled in between mentions of magnesium, mountain climbing, the perils of hiking, and travel to Peru. The microphone sat on the corner of my kitchen table and I pressed record to capture an evening between friends. We talk about travel and how it affects your personal life, your spiritual life, and your outlook on life.
Be prepared to laugh, to hear a little cray-cray, and to wonder if we are both right in our minds. We are — but we have been friends a long time and sometimes, friends just like to sit around and talk about a bunch of nothing. Well… a bunch of nothing with a bunch of travel talk mixed in.
Welcome… to Shellyland.
But don’t worry, next week I’ll be back to “normal” and I can’t wait to share some of my other friends with you. In July we’ll be exploring real life She’s Still There stories. The real life situations in which women realize the need they have to rescue the girl within. You DO NOT want to miss my guest line up!
Stay tuned!!!

lol… Reminds me of me and my friends!
Loved listening to this podcast, put a smile on my face. Reminded me of how important friendships are!
Michelle
I get you! I’m single and just as young as you. I have a job I love where I always move, like once every 3 years. The one time I worked at a place the longest, like 8 years, I moved 3 times in town haha
I love that you are so confident, know you you are, know whose you are, and you continue to dream. I too have no idea where home base is. That feeling of being unsettled really becomes a nasty fear. I think something really happened when I watched my mom battle a terminal illness where some times I think I need to live near my support network, go home or something. I mean someone has to drive me to the dentist cus I can’t do that without drugs.
I wish I was as outgoing as you sound. It is getting harder and harder make friends in new places…any tips for this introvert? I got my good people like you for decades but locally wherever local is it is nice to have company now and then, not just people watch or experience something in a group.
BTW I’m moving again soon so I can be in a more active neighborhood so maybe magic will happen by walking the dog or something lol. People definitely to say hi at least on trails.
Praying all the best for you. Toasting my magnesium to you.
Wow! listening to this podcast reminds me of my friends of long ago, I think I have a lot of reconnecting to do
