Podcast: Play in new window
This week we tackle another #lifehack for living — organization at home.
While I wouldn’t claim to be a Pinterest-ready organizational role model, I have learned a few tips and tricks for keeping my stuff under control.
Ya’ll. Stuff seems to have a life of it’s own. I’m a lover of systems and efficiency and hacks and I thought I’d share of my random ideas for keeping my home life organized.
On today’s podcast, I take you on a journey through my home and give you a few ideas for how you might be able to rule your stuff. I’m convinced that one of the easiest and quickest ways to reach for peace in a world that is constantly trying to crowd it out is to refuse to let the stuff that come in your house to make you a slave.
Be a ruthless gatekeeper of what comes in your home and be sure to vigilantly and constantly look around your house for the things whose time has come to go. Look around and ask the question what is here that I don’t need, love, or use. And when the answer is no, get rid of that thing.
Highlight from Today’s Episode:
- Get the clothes you don’t wear out of your closet
- Decrowd your kitchen pantry.
- Be prepared for the day when you get hit by a bus.

Thanks for this episode! I am a single person and honestly scared to create something like this. I am going to create something like this. Also I prayed to God asking him to lead me to an organizational tool of some sort to help me get my life on track. So this episode is an answered prayer.
Glad to hear that!
Thanks so much for doing what you do and sharing “real life”. I would like to add an onion hack of mine….. I use a short jar with a wide mouth lid (ie. salsa)…. and put my partially cut or chopped pieces of onion in that. No smell and keeps for weeks!
Great tip!
I love your podcast and the book you wrote with your father! In reference to this and your last organization podcast, I would be so grateful for a “If I Get Hit By A Bus” binder template or organization method! My husband would be lost if I wasn’t here!
I’ll work on it!
Great organizational tips. This is my first time listening to your podcast, it won’t be my last. Love your book, Kingdom Woman.
Great tips! Thanks so much.
This is so helpful!! My family just got our first home 5 months ago and we are hosting our first in home event (daughter’s birthday party) on Saturday and it’s a big stretch!! I’m glad we aren’t the only ones who are a bit introverted…and taking small steps towards entertaining in our home. Also, as a working mom, 30 weeks pregnant, and active at church. I’ve been quite anti-social this pregnancy due to my energy level, less sleep, limited spare time, etc….so I like what you said about meeting early in the AM when possible. The life hacks were great as well. Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
