Podcast: Play in new window
It’s been eleven days since I had my toenail removed.
I could have left my toenail on, but now I know, had I chosen to do so, it would have taken a long time for the pain in my toe to go away. Removing the covering of my nail is enabling faster healing to an injury hidden underneath.
Hurts.
Emotions.
Just like my nail had covered up a festering wound, we sometime choose to live everyday covering up festering hurts. The problem is, when we choose to ignore them and not take care of them, they can actually cause more trouble to our lives over the long haul.
Dealing with my toe has been inconvenient. It hasn’t been fun. But what here’s what I can say, I see healing taking place. I first had to pay attention to what my body was trying to tell me. Then I had to make the time and be willing to be inconvenienced to nurture that part of me.
My heart is the same way, if I am not careful, my emotions can not only “run-a-muck”, they can run uncared for if I don’t make the time to pay attention to what my heart is trying to tell me. It’s important to make the time to deal with me.
In today’s podcast, I discuss the importance of coaching your heart and some practical ways for how you can do that that.
While our emotions should not dictate what we do, they are our God-given indicators of how our souls are fairing in this life. Too many of us stuff our emotions or inappropriately share indiscriminately. Both are attempts to deal with a hurting heart but they are both extremes. We can and should care for our emotions in a balanced way. Our heart, the seat of our emotions, is just like our bodies — it’s been placed within our care and it’s to our advantage to manage them well.

Thank you so much for this coaching series…especially coaching your heart..this blessed my ENTIRE spirit..I have always been a “stuffer” and at 39 it’s become so hard to release but hearing this podcast has helped me understand what I need to do to begin healing and releasing my emotions properly.. So thank you again for allowing God to use you to share your heart with us.
I’ve always been a stuffer too (as mentioned on today’s show) but letting the tears flow can be learned just like I learned to hold them back. Thanks for listening Arketha!
Hello Chrystal,
This is another great podcast that really hit home for me. You’ve helped me to identify the work that I have been doing to address events from my past. Thank you for providing book resources. God bless!
Good for you for doing the work! Battlefield of the Mind is the BEST! My copy is tattered and torn.
Such a great series! The truth you spoke this week – that if you don’t allow yourself to feel pain, you won’t be able to feel anything (paraphrase) brought me to tears. I stuffed emotions for 34 years … until the dam broke. What I hadn’t realized, until hearing this message, is that in the last 20 years, I have once again begun dam building. And it’s time to do some demolition! Thank you for this message & for sharing your heart each week. Your podcasts are such a blessing! And I cannot wait for the next installment!
Thank you for listening Donna! I appreciate you!
