Can I just say that I’m done with New Year’s Resolutions?

I simply repeat too many of them to believe that they do any good.

I’ve decided that I’m more in favor of ongoing encouragement and personal coaching.

The problem is that I don’t always receive ongoing encouragement from others.  And personal coaching?  Well, personal coaching can certainly be helpful but I figure I’m a person and I’m with me all the time so I maybe I can coach myself.

On today’s podcast, I talk about why it’s important to talk to yourself like you would talk to a friend.  Speaking life to yourself with your lips is such a simple concept but many of us don’t do it.  We want other people to encourage us and to spur us onward with their words but we don’t take the time to do that for ourselves. But speaking life with your lips is important.  Words give information to your head (what you think), your heart (what you feel), and your hands (what you do). While encouragement from friends is important, never underestimate the power of your own words to speak life into you.

Your words matter.  In fact the power of life and death is in your tongue.  While your words do not replace your actions they certainly can spur you on to action.  Your words paint a picture of what’s possible and can give you a push in the direction of your potential.  The question is only whether or not you are using your words to get the job done.

In today’s podcast I talk about why words matter, how I’ve struggled with my own words, and  how you can speak life to yourself in very simple  yet powerful ways.  I figure if sports teams need coaches to win, and people use coaches to win at work, why shouldn’t you accept the job of coaching yourself to winning in your life?

While God has given you life, you have the power to activate that life with the choices you make each and every day.

Let one of those choices be to respect the power of words and to use your words wisely. Silence the negative self-talk that tears you down and choose to speak life-giving words that build you up.
