Podcast: Play in new window
My son is lamenting the increase in his school work.
While we have told him over and over again that as he gets older increased freedom comes with increased responsibility, he still doesn’t like the process of growth.
Not many of us do.
I talk to a lot of people who talk about the changes that they want to see in their life but lament the process of growth necessary to experiences the very changes they say they want.
Sometimes I find myself listening to others as they express all of the reasons why their life isn’t working out the way they want and I have to stop myself from shaking my head.
Because I’m standing their thinking, “You don’t really want to grow. You don’t really want to change.”
Today’s podcast is what I’ve thought about saying many times, said a few times, and probably should say more often.
It’s my desire to reach my full potential and to encourage you in reaching yours.
But in order for that to happen for either one of us, we have to choose to grow and to participate in the process of our own development.
I hope today’s podcast encourages you to do just that.

Excellent points! Love the challenge to consider whether we’re really determined to grow and doing what’s necessary to promote it.
By the way, so glad you’re back to podcasting. I get so excited when I see yours in my list to listen to!
Can’t wait for the book! I know that was part of the pause in the series. I also know from the topics you mentioned & questions you asked while writing that this is one I want! When will it actually be in print?
July 2017!
This was a really hard slap in the face (in a good way!) I am in that space where I realize I have not spent my time as I should have, for years even, and even though this year in particular has seen great improvement, I fear that my past is catching up with me and now I will be unable to do what I need to do. In addition, I think I know what I need to do to grow, but also feel pulled to be preparing for a possible new phase of life and am not sure how I can balance the two or pursue both simultaneously. So I’m just praying fervently and doing what I can to seek the counsel of the saints. Thanks again for the (good) kick in the back!
Convicted 🙁 Thanks Chrystal
HI Chrystal,
To say I feel uncomfortable after this podcast is putting it lightly. One has to be brutally honest with yourself to realise that you are your own foe/friend. I just want to say that the message you brought today is a answer to my prayers. God works in wonderful ways 🙂 I found your podcast a few weeks ago and started listening from the beginning, but seeing today’s title, I knew I had to listen. Thanks for this blog and podcast, it is wonderfully inspiring, convicting and also reminds me constantly that I am loved and never alone in any struggles.
